Charming Duplex in Rio de Janeiro
LOCATION: 15m bike to beaches 5m walk to lake 20m cab/bus to Lapa
This is a bike rental program sponsored by the bank ItaĂş and the city of Rio. There are about 900 bikes to rent around the South Zone. Pick up and drop off anywhere within 1 hour.

You will have to download the app. I can help you get credit (you might need a Brazilian credit card). There are bike lanes around the lake and almost all the way to the beach :)

GETTING HOME: Taking a cab is your best option, especially if you have luggage. From GIG R$50-60, from SDU, R$25-35 (after 10pm and Sundays are more expensive). Take the yellow cabs.

Metro: The metro bus links to the underground. Use the metro to go to Centro, Lapa and Maracanã. Bus: For Ipanema and Leblon, use buses on São Clemente or Rua Humaitá that say Leblon. For Jardim Botânico and Gávea, take the buses on São Clemente or Rua Humaitá that say Gávea, São Conrado or Barra.
GETTING AROUND: Metro Bus Bike, walking Cabs
But ideally, Ride a bike to Copa, Ipanema, Gávea, Leblon, Botafogo and Jardim Botânico! It will make you healthier and happier :)

Bike up to Vista Chinesa (waterfalls and great view) if you are hardcore.
Sunset or sunrise (and yoga, meditation etc) at Arpoador. Walking around and checking out the grafitti and art galleries in Santa Teresa and Morro da Conceição.
Joatinga or Prainha beaches. Niterói fish-market and MEC museum. MAM and CCBB museums downtown.
Hanging out at the beach. Drinks at Meza, La Carioca, Oztel, Colarinho, Comuna, Baixo Gávea (avoid Thursdays unless you want to meet a bunch of university students) Pé sujo (grimy but traditional bars) - Bar do Zé (Rua Barão de Guaratiba) and Jorginho (Rua Maria Angêlica)
