Category 2- Sports Wear Product - Older Kids’ (Girls’) Graphic Leggings Brand- Nike Polyester is preferred in sportswear due to its light weight, cheap to produce, dye fastness, durability, easy care properties, quick drying, hydrophobic in nature, and wicking ability. In addition, the polyester filament fabrics can be given hydrophilic coating. Elastane is another synthetic fiber widely preferred for its elasticity mainly for stretch and recovery. The elastic nature of filaments is used in sportswear to compress muscles, offer stretch for body movements, and support in recovering from muscle soreness. Most sportswear products are characterized by general performance features such as fit, stretch, color and maintenance (washing and drying). In the context of product design, key performance characteristics of sportswear products can be divided into four major categories: durability, comfort, functionality and identity or recognition. Durability characteristics include strength, stretchability, elastic recovery, abrasion resistance, tear resistance, color fading, body odor resistance and UV resistance. Thermo-physiological comfort is largely an issue of thermal regulation or thermal adaptability. In simple terms, this implies cooling in hot weather and warming with sweat release (transferring sweat away from the skin) in cold climates.
8
One of the main requirements of sportswear is moisture management and an optimum microclimate (including temperature and humidity) between the skin and clothing is necessary for an athlete to focus on the sports. To facilitate the moisture management, the breathability and body temperature should be regulated. Breathability is the ability of the fabric/garment to transport the moisture or perspiration from the skin to the environment. However, intense exercise or sporting activity increases body heat and sweat is produced to cool the skin’s surface.

Category 3- Medical Textiles
Product - Product: Type 2 Bandages (cotton gauze, sponge, bandages) Description
Cotton gauze is one of the most successful wound dressings which utilize the intrinsic properties of cotton fibres. There are majorly two types of gauze according to wound type, Woven gauze and Nonwoven gauze.
Types of Bandages and dimensions
• Impregnated dressings-These gauze dressings are coated or saturated with pharmaceutical materials, such as petroleum jelly, oil or water emulsion, hydrogel, iodine, or antimicrobials. • Wrapping gauzes -Used for securement, padding, and protection, these dressings may include cotton, elastic, or a nylon and rubber mix, and have a fluff dried with the crinkle-weave pattern. • Sponges-A sponge, often referred to as a gauze pad, is a piece of gauze folded into a square. Common sizes are 2×2 and 4×4.
11
Medical gauze, a bleached white cloth or fabric used in bandages, dressings, and surgical sponges, is the most widely used wound care dressing. Commonly known as “4×4s,” gauze is made from fibres of cotton, rayon, polyester, or a combination of these fibres. Surgical gauze must meet standards of purity, thread count, construction, and sterility, according to the United States Pharmacopeia. Gauze offers a variety of options—woven or Nonwoven, sterile or nonsterile, plain or impregnated, and fenestrated (perforated or with slits)—and is available in various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses.
Materials
• Woven gauze: Most woven products are a fine or coarse cotton mesh, depending on the thread count per inch. Fine-mesh cotton gauze is often used for packing, such as in a normal saline wet-to-moist dressing, whereas coarse-mesh cotton gauze, such as a normal saline wet-to-dry dressing, • • Non woven gauze: Most nonwoven gauze dressings are made of polyester, rayon, or cotton blends of these fibres and are more durable, bulkier, and softer than woven pads.
Composition
40% cotton, 31% viscose, 29% polyamide(standard data according to kobindias biggest medical textile company)
Extensibility
Approx. ≥ 80% Coloring: White, blue, red
Manufacturing
India imports its 80% of its non-implanted medical textiles and 100% of implantable textiles. The firms like KOB in Delhi is accountable for Indian and us standards of medical textie brand that supply in India.
12
Properties
• Nonwoven gauze consists of fibres pressed together to resemble a weave, which provides improved wicking and higher absorbent capacity. • Woven gauze produces less lint and has the benefit of leaving fewer fibres behind in a wound when removed. • Non toxic • Non allergic • Non carcinogenic • Biocompatible
Process
Step1: The cotton fibres are carded and combed; the antibacterial spray is applied and heated to remove water. The fibres are made, and antimicrobial agents are applied. After making the yarn is divided into two types woven and nonwoven gauze is prepared, the non-woven gauze is just vertical and horizontal yarns heat pressed and made to look like woven yet it is not so that lint is not generated which is beneficial in the healing process. Woven gauze is far more strong and flexible, but cant be applied directly on wound. The plain weave is done on a mechanical loom with a very loose and fine yarn. Step 2: Cotton gauze was inserted into a hydrogel network composed of acrylamide, sodium methacrylate, and polyethene glycol dimethacrylate to fabricate an electro responsive delivery system for wound dressing. The composite was characterized by swelling measurements, showing that shrinking or swelling depends on the applied voltage. The release profile of incorporated diclofenac sodium salt shows the possibility to modulate the kinetics by changes in the amplitude and duration of applied electric pulses.Mathematical models allow characterization of release profiles, which are slower when an external voltage of 6, 12, and 18 V is applied, and faster at 24 V.
13
Future Of Cotton Gauze • Cotton gauze is one of the most successful wound dressings which utilize the intrinsic properties of cotton fibres. • Modern wound dressings, however, require other properties such as antibacterial and moisture maintaining capabilities. In this study, conventional cotton gauze was treated with chitosan/Ag/ZnO nanocomposite for achieving modern wound dressing properties. • Cotton gauze samples were impregnated with chitosan/Ag/ZnO nanocomposite by the dip, dry, and cure method. Samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and UV-Vis reflective spectroscopy (UV-Vis); and their water absorbency ability, wicking effect, and antibacterial activity determined. • The results show that coated cotton gauze with chitosan/Ag/ZnO nanocomposite has increased drying time (78%) and water absorbency (38%). • Furthermore, their antibacterial efficiency was 96% for Escherichia coli (E. Coli) and 99% for Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus).

Bamboo towels have been making the rounds of shower rooms and hotels due to its natural softness. Paired with antibacterial properties and an eco-friendly touch, it’s a unique choice if you want to spice up your bath. Bamboo towels might be unfamiliar for some, but it’s a workhorse that can last for years.
Bamboo Vs. Cotton Towels
Bamboo fabric is more absorbent than cotton. This is quite surprising as the cotton uses more water during propagation than bamboo. bamboo towels absorb moisture quicker than regular cotton towels. When it comes to drying, the results will vary depending on how thick the towel is. Thick bamboo towels take time to dry as it absorbs a lot of moisture during washing. And with that, it becomes cumbersome too.Take note that some cotton towels are blended with polyester and, therefore, less efficient in absorbing water.
Sustainable and renewable
Bamboo is an eco-friendly textile fiber, organically grown without fertilizers or pesticides. Because it is nature’s fastest growing crop, it can grow up to 2 feet a day, replenishing itself naturally without replanting. It can be harvested naturally and helps to slow deforestation. It is also completely biodegradable! The bamboo plantation used for the production of this product is USDA and OCIA certified organic.
Naturally antibacterial
Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, due to an inherent property known as “bamboo kun”. According to a study done by the China Industrial Testing Center, bamboo fiber exhibited a 99.8% kill rate after a 24 hour incubation period. It is mildew-resistant to help maintain a clean and healthy home.
Soft and absorbent
As soft as silk and cashmere, viscose from bamboo fabric is also three times more absorbent than cotton. Sheets and clothes made from bamboo are thermalregulating, keeping you cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

Advantages Of Bamboo Towels
• Bamboo towels is its excellent absorbency. It also remains soft and fluffy even after several washings. • This towel resists mold, bacteria, and odor buildup. And if you have sensitive skin, bamboo towels are one of the most hypoallergenic fabrics you can use. Moreover, bamboo towels are easy to maintain. It doesn’t wrinkle or pill easily, so you get to enjoy its luxurious softness for long. • Above all, bamboo towels are environment-friendly. The bamboo plants where the fibers came from use less water than cotton and didn’t need pesticides to survive. • Excellent colorfastness • Sustainable source • Lasts longer than other towels • Versatile fabric • Kind to the skin
Disadvantages
• Some bamboo towels are produced haphazardly, which causes more carbon footprints than cotton. It is recommended looking for a high-quality towel produced responsibly by a reliable manufacturer. • Bamboo towels tend to be more expensive than other options.
GSM Levels
• GSMs of bamboo towels range between 300 and 900. GSM of 300 to 400 is the lightest and often found on mid-grade hotel towels. It dries quickly, making it an excellent choice for gym and kitchen use. • Meanwhile, bamboo towels that are between 400 to 620 GSM are medium-weight towels. It has the right level of absorbency and weight ratio. • The thickest are towels that have 620 to 900 GSM. These are high-priced towels that are also quite heavy. Wrapping your body in this towel feels like a snug hug.

Quality Control Checklists And Inspection Protocols.
Oeko-Tex Oeko-Tex is an international product safety testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished and finished textile products. First developed in 1992, Oeko-Tex is the most widely recognized safety standard to evaluate bath towels for harmful chemicals or substances. The most recent standard, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, requires bath towels to comply with: • Important legal regulations for numerous harmful chemicals, such as banned Azo colorants, formaldehyde, pentachlorophenol, cadmium and nickel • The European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) requirements relevant for fabrics, textiles, garments or accessories • U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) requirements regarding lead ASTM D4772 - 14 Developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the ASTM D4772 - 14 test method is used to determine the surface water absorption of terry fabric during bath towel inspection. It determines the ability of a terry fabric to rapidly absorb and retain liquid water from surfaces such as human skin, dishes and furniture. This test method is not applicable to non-terry fabrics. ASTM D5433 – 12 The ASTM D5433 – 12 standard applies to terry and non-terry towels for institution and household use. It is the most comprehensive performance specification for towels, covering the evaluation of woven and knitted kitchen towels, dishcloths, washcloths, hand towels, bath towels and bath sheets. However, this standard does not address safety concerns related to the use of the towel. ASTM D5433 - 12 covers numerous performance specifications that can be agreed upon by you, the customer, and your supplier prior to purchase and evaluated during bath towel inspection, including: • Breaking strength • Colorfastness • Laundering • Crocking • Absorbency 18
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification
The Global Organic Textile Standard was launched in 2006 as a leading international standard for the processing of textile goods using organic fibers. This standard applies to the entire towel supply chain process, including raw material processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution. Your towels must contain a minimum of 70 percent organic fibers and undergo annual on-site bath towel inspection, auditing and residue testing to become GOTS certified. The Performance Properties Of Bamboo Towels
• Pile density may to increase tensile strength in warp and weft direction because of its contribution with ground yarn, but pile density has no significant effect on pile withdraw. • An increasing of pile height and density of towel fabric forms balance structure which lead to a flat and soft and smooth surface. • Height of pile and density of pile play an important role to improve quality of terry towels and achieve the appropriate quality with economical price. • Water absorption is not the only property that should be used to evaluate towel quality, but durability and fabric hand properties must be considered as requirements of evaluation. • Moisture management as wicking, spreading and absorption affected by the cellulosic properties of bamboo fiber.
Wash Care
• Wash towels before first use. • Wash like colors together. • Avoid using fabric softeners—the use of fabric softener can deteriorate the towel fibers and reduce their absorbency. • Give your towels a shake when take them out of the washer. This will help fluff the terry loops that aid absorbency. Don’t iron terry towels; this will reduce absorbency. • Ensure that towels are dry when you remove them from the dryer. Even slightly damp towels can quickly mildew, but avoid overdrying; it can destroy the integrity of the individual cotton fibers. • Avoid contact with skin care products to help minimize towel spotting and bleaching. 19
Category 5- Fashion Apparel Product: Patchwork Anti-fit Crop Top Brand- Cotton Rack Characteristics of Cotton Products • Comfortable to wear • Natural, cellulosic fibre • Made from the cotton boll • Absorbs water and “breathes” • Slow to dry • Resists static electricity build-up • Wrinkles easily • Will shrink unless treated • Can be damaged by prolonged exposure to sunlight • Long staple cotton (such a Supima, Pima, Egyptian, and Sea Island) can be woven into smooth, almost silky fabrics.
Advantages of Handloom Cotton
The handloom experience (soft, comfortable and durable) is due to the human handling of the yarn in the weaving process. As a result, yarn and the fabric are much less stressed and damaged. Hand woven cotton is known for its breathability as compared to mill made cotton. This implies that it allows more air penetration making it cooler, softer and more absorbent. It keeps you cooler in summers and warm in winters
Textures in Hand Weaving
Hand woven fabric has a different texture from mill woven fabrics due to the low speed it is woven at and also the equipment used for weaving. Different textures are created in handloom by using different thicknesses’ and qualities of yarn in the same length and width of fabric. These textures help create distinct handloom products such as mangalgiri yardage, south cotton sarees, twill fabrics, check fabrics etc. 20
