Project Altāra manifests on the contrasting possibility of representing life and promoting an organic spacial experience using plastic-an inert and inorganic material. The Pavilion has been explored as collection of modular pods which resembles a cluster of mushrooms made out of recyled bio-plastic fabrication parts reinforced in perpendicular steel-lattice. The pavilion is proposed in one of the most highly visited locations in chennai and aims at impacting the visitors with a futuristic spatial and personal experience. The lighting system is backed by a bioluminesent algae which reacts to touch and motion thus allowing for a one-to-one interaction. This modular structure is framed in four parts: glass-fiber reinforced plastic as a modular structure which holds up algal gilled tanks. The modular pods rest on varied seating and interaction spaces, creating an organic pedestal. This installation is mainly utilized at dusk where it rhythmically configures the site and its content into a form of - living light.
