In collaboration with: Lorena Islas (garment execution)
Role: Architectural consultant and co-designer
Drawing inspiration from the iconic hyperbolic paraboloids of architect Felix Candela, this interdisciplinary project merges architectural principles with the artistry of fashion design. Each garment proposal, rooted in Candela’s structures, mirrors the elegance and functionality of his shell designs using simple forms and innovative materials like paper. Recognized at the annual “AMN Fashion Night” event, this project embodies creativity and pushes the boundaries of design exploration.
By seamlessly integrating architectural inspiration with fashion design principles, this project showcases a unique blend of creativity and technical prowess. It represents a commitment to breaking traditional disciplinary boundaries and embracing innovative approaches to design. With its recognition highlighting its impact and cross-disciplinary collaboration, this project underscores the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue in shaping impactful design solutions. Aspiring to advance the intersection of architecture and fashion, this project serves as a testament to the power of creativity and collaboration in driving meaningful design innovation.
ANALYSIS ON FELIX CANDELA’S “HYPAR”HYPERBOLIC PARABOLOID
Each garment design draws inspiration from the fundamental structure of the hyperbolic paraboloid, a hallmark of Felix Candela’s architectural masterpieces. Simplified forms are meticulously crafted to interact seamlessly with the chosen material, predominantly paper, echoing the elegance and efficiency of Candela’s design.
The interplay of folds defines the jacket’s texture, while the strategic arrangement of hyperbolas imbues the garment with dynamic asymmetry, evoking movement and fluidity.
This design pays homage to Candela’s original structure, seamlessly blending smooth surfaces with meticulously folded paper to capture the essence of the hyperbolic paraboloid.

ANALOGOUS ARCHITECTURAL TYPES
This project exemplifies my commitment to interdisciplinary design principles, blending architectural innovation with cultural sensitivity to address pressing societal needs. Its focus on creating livable spaces that foster community engagement aligns with the principles of advanced design discourse, which prioritize sustainability, contextual adaptation, and community well-being. Moreover, the project’s success in a national contest underscores my capacity to excel in competitive environments and deliver impactful design solutions.
CONCEPT DESIGN PROCESS
The development stems from the study and analysis of the KSAR’s functionality, aiming to apply the same technique to the design of apartment buildings
1. UNDERSTANDING OF UNITS
Initially, it was necessary to visualize the apartments as individual units that form a whole.
2. RELATIONSHIPS
The apartments are located within a collective building, thus relating to other housing units.
3. GROWTH
Due to the density of the units, they must move and relate horizontally and vertically.
4. MOVEMENT
The units can move along the X, Y, and Z axes to create useful outdoor spaces.
1. DEVELOPMENT OF STANDARD FLOOR PLANS
The project comprises standard floor plans containing different types of apartments.
2. RELATIONSHIP
The standard floor plans integrate and relate vertically, fostering a corelation that enhances each one’s conditions.
3. ARRANGEMENT
The displacement of standard floor plans allows for the creation of terraces and provides protection against solar incidence for the apartments.
4. MOVEMENT
The development of different standard floor plans allwos the units to interleave, akin to the housing units of the KSAR, increasing the shading produced by the homes and consequently, protection against the sun.
BUILDING DESIGN PROCESS
CONFIGURATION
The building is primarily structured around a central volume containing vertical circulations and supporting much of the building along with a steel frame struc-
STANDARD FLOOR PLANS
It consists of two standard floor plans containing different types of apartments, intercalated to create terraces that provide a peripheral view and protection from the extreme climate characteristic of the area.
OPERATION
By intercalating the volumes, terraces are generated where gardens with vegetation and water sprinklers are located, allowing for a cooling effect against the hot air, thus creating a suitable atmosphere for inhabiting the apartments.

The project presents a master plan for the rehabilitation and treatment of canals and chinampas in Xochimilco, aimed at utilizing the land for agricultural purposes to create a symbiotic system that benefits both the local population and the environment, providing food and creating job opportunities. The proposal includes the implementation of wetlands for canal treatment and integration into the agricultural system, as well as the strategic relocation and expansion of the Research Center (CIBAC) and the development of housing to accommodate both the research center and the community.
This project shows a complete approach to sustainable land use and community development, aligning with the principles of interdisciplinary design and taking care of the environment and community. By integrating innovative strategies for agriculture system development and infrastructure planning, “Regreso al Origen” demonstrates a commitment to creating connections between urban planning, architecture, and design. The project’s focus on taking responsibility for the environment and empowering the community resonates with programs that prioritize creative solutions for shaping the built environment.

INNATUR 5 Contest Entry
Academic 3rd Year | Spring 2016
Design Studio V. Architectural Expression
Instructors: Lucía Martín, Fernando Velasco
In collaboration with: Lucía Palomar
Role: Conceptual design (50%), Graphics (50%)
The project is a Nature Interpretation Center conceptualized for the Innatur 5 Contest, aiming to introduce innovative architectural proposals in natural environments. Situated in Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, renowned for its unique natural phenomena, the project integrates these features into its design. It comprises a reflective elevated volume that harmonizes with the landscape, creating a visual illusion of infinity by reflecting the sky onto the salt flat. Drawing inspiration from sensory experiences, the project incorporates hanging elements within the volume, evoking a sensation of levitation for visitors and enhancing their immersion in the landscape.
This project embodies an imaginative approach to architectural integration within natural settings, showcasing a deep understanding of the environment’s unique characteristics. Through innovative design elements and a focus on sensory engagement, “CERCA DEL CIELO” demonstrates a commitment to creating immersive experiences that transcend traditional boundaries between architecture and nature. Its harmonious relationship with the environment aligns seamlessly with the values of programs that emphasize sustainable design practices and interdisciplinary exploration of the built environment.

REDEFINING URBAN SPACES
Urban revitalization through waste disposal site repurposing
Academic 4rd Year | Fall 2017
Design Studio VII. Urban Planning
Instructors: Adriana Chávez, Mónica Arzoz
In collaboration with: Andrea Torres Asseo and Paola González
Role: Conceptual design (33%), Technical Drawings (33%), Graphics (33%)
The project arises from two fundamental considerations: the lack of public spaces in the eastern part of the city and the underutilization of solid waste. The project is situated in the eastern part of the ZMVM in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl, formerly considered part of the outskirts of Mexico City but gradually absorbed by urban expansion. It originates from the need to rethink the functioning of waste disposal sites and understand their role, the consequences they bring, and the possibility of changing the current reality where garbage is merely “stored” and not fully utilized.
“El Parque del Borde” offers an innovative approach to urban revitalization by repurposing waste disposal sites into dynamic public spaces. The project responds to the pressing need for communal areas while redefining the use of overlooked urban landscapes. Emphasizing sustainability and community engagement, it embodies forward-thinking urban design principles. Its interdisciplinary approach, considering the intricate relationships between various systems, provides valuable insights applicable to diverse fields, including disciplines that prioritize sustainability and holistic thinking.
