MUNROE'S MAGICAL MISCELLANY--- A Selection of more or less inconsequential magical items, questions and comment which should be careful preserved by collectors of the trivial and mildly important. A punk publication which will appear now and then if ever again. This issue, June 1943, the initial and possibly the final number, is addressed especially to Munroe's friend (and enemies, if any) in the Detroit magical fraternity, particularly. And now.. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, as that necromancer of English, Wm. Shakespere, would say Quizzes being the order of the day, I ask you: What magican brought his own sardines to a restaurant at the I.B.M. convention at Batavia? What Detroit magician embellishes his tricks by scratching his head? What Detroit magician resembles one of the Marx Brothers? What Detroit magical bug was billed,”Jacoby Rope Tie, Third Attempt"? And failed again? What Detroit magician built”The Cave of Cagliostro?" Who is the Detroit magician who collects snakes? What famous magician with whom Harry Kellar once was associated, lived for a time in Detroit? What Detroit magician does the vanishing birdcage better than any other magical worker in town? Why do cards always have to rise, why not a falling card trick? Why do magicians usually produce rabbits, who not cats, dogs rats, mice, gophers or other members of the animal kingdom? Yes, what we need is originality. So I shall do the wine and water trick at my next show. SO LONG AL MUNROE

In the same voice I admit I’m NOT the world’s greatest magician. I also admit I’m NOT the world’s finest typist. If you want typographical perfection, try typing out a”mag”yourself. A FACT: So far I have not received a single word of favorable comment regarding the MISCELLANY. What’s the matter, boys, are you E NVIOUS? Yours magically...AL MUNROE,”The Man Who Muddles Magic”

I DO NOT favor women in magic clubs. Generally speaking, they are a headache in such organizations. There have been few, and are very few, capable women magicians. Dell O'Dell is an exception. There are others, not many. Now that the saloons are over packed with females, a magic club is one of the few mediums of escape. Of course, the women are okay when it comes to preparing the lunches!
