Vienna International Airport
The design of Vienna Bratislava Twin City International Airport reacts on the future urbanization and globalization. One airport for two capitals, two states. It considers a common airspace for the whole European Union. Vienna Bratislava Twin City is significant for its good strategic position in Europe. An important element of these two cities is the river Danube. The design is looking for a new location of the airport in the system of the city. It responds to current problems of airports-transport, environment, town-creation. It advances the current model of industrial and consumer character of the airport on experience for the passenger and also for the city. The main aim was to accelerate the process from check in to departure, not at the terminal building , but in the system of the city. Creating a boarding station, in the city center (only with connection to urban public transport) and in suburbs of the city (with links to regional transport and highways). The bording station creates a public zone of a traditional scheme of the airport. The first screening is made by entering the transport capsule (boarding passes checking by celle phone apps) and here all the other necessary procedures are made. The airport is located between Vienna and Bratislava in the natural environment of the Danube. The main motto of the design is to "touch the earth lightly". The enviromental principle creates a new concept of aircraft contact with the ground. A light connection with the ground and with the river. It creates a new dimension of the passenger experience. The passenger in the capsule smoothly transits from urban to natural environment. He is in a visual contact with the natural panorama form the waiting hall, but has no visual contact with the airfield. The airport management uses innovative softwares. Aircrafts in the future will use quiet electrics propulsion to be friendly to enviroment.
