Finally realizing that cable TV is just an addition to the bills that you need to pay every month? That is because you can watch your favorite movies online, thanks to Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime you can watch your movies anytime. If you are into sports and news, you can watch them on your TV for FREE! So why waste your money for your monthly cable fee when you can save up your money and still be able to watch what you like in TV. All you needed is a good and you are good too. Although, you need to consider your location, your living situation, and the channels that you wanted to watch as an antenna has no one size fits all situation.


#1: Determine what channel is available in your area. It is best that you determine first the available channel for you, if you are currently located in or near metro area odds are you can have several channels to choose from and that includes some major network affiliates. If you are currently situated in places that far enough do not be crestfallen as there are search sites available to help you find what is available in your area.


#2: Choose the right type of antenna to use for your location and channels After finding out which channels are available in your location, the next step is to decide which type of antenna you need. Antennas needed to face the direction where the signal is coming from and if you are situated where most signals came from different direction then it is best that you buy an omnidirectional antenna that allows you to get most of the channels that are coming from different directions. On the other hand, a directional antenna is enough if all channels are coming from only one direction.


Although, unlike cable TV where all channels come clear in antenna it depends on the strength of the signal if you will be able to have a clearer channel or just enough image to be able to watch. And it is also best to remember that some manufacturers sell amplified antenna, this type of antenna is said to be better in reaching for channels that are far away from your location. This may be as enticing as it sounds, but it is best that you test it first before spending your money to it.


#3 Buy Antenna Once you determine your location, channel availability and type of antenna to choose from, you can now buy the antenna you needed. HDTV antenna is most likely to serve you better and is more effective in reaching for your favorite channels.
