This process book is a compilation of my Final Major Project for BTEC Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

The garment is influenced by shedding a process where deers shed the velvety cover off their antlers.

The project focuses on the noble species that carry a crown on their heads. Antlers symbolize power and rank in the herd.

Materials and techniques used in the garment and the headpiece were discovered through mixed media research.

The outcome of the project included a reasearch sketchbook, process journal, design developement book, 10x A2 portfolio sheets, a photographic book, a garment and a headpiece.

The antler headpiece is sculpted out of polystyrene and sinamay, and it’s painted with acrylics and coffee. The garment is a A-line silk satin dress. Recycled tights are used as a material on the top panels of the dress, and texture is added by crocheting and ripping the nylon. The dress is dyed with coffee.
