Half-day visit to Ayutthaya by car FROM USD 91 Among the must-see Thai experiences is a visit to Ayutthaya, located just north of Bangkok. Founded by King U-Thong in 1350, Ayutthaya was the Thai capital for over 400 years and still contains many of the ancient ruins and art that were the foundation of much of Thai culture. During this excursion, you’ll lay eyes on some of the most important landmarks in the historic city beginning with the former presidential palace, Wat Phrasisanpetch. Next, experience Wat Phananchoeng, which precedes even Ayutthaya in age and boasts an impressive 19-metre high stucco Buddha, a valuable icon for residents of the city.
