Qualification/Eligibility

The following are the requirements for obtaining a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology –

- A minimum of 55% marks in class 12 board exams from a recognized education board

- The subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Biology must be included in class 12

- Obtaining cut-off marks in individual admission tests conducted by different institutions

Requirements for obtaining an MBBS degree with Microbiology as one of the prime subjects -

- Same as qualification for B.Sc.

- Class 12 board exams percentage requirement – UR- 50%, OBC/SC/ST40%, PWD- 45%

- In this case, NEET-UG is the national level entrance exam to be given to get admission in MBBS programme.

- The age of the aspirant should be 17+ years at the time of attempting NEET-UG.

Syllabus

The Undergraduate Microbiology Course for MBBS is divided into the following modules–Orientation, general microbiology, immunology, blood and cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, hepatobiliary system, skin and soft tissues, musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, central nervous system, urogenital system, and miscellaneous infective syndromes.

Duration

In MBBS, the theories and practical classes of Microbiology are included in the curriculum of the second year. There are other subjects too that are included in the second year. Hence, the duration of  Microbiology Course for Undergrad is only 1 year in the MBBS curriculum.
