Quick moving wildlife or fast-paced sports can be difficult to capture when searching for that decisive moment, but the G9’s autofocus speed and fast shooting ability make it easier than ever. The camera is capable of an impressive burst of 20FPS with continuous autofocus tracking and up to 60FPS with the autofocus locked. Having these lightning fast speeds is pointless if you don’t have your shots in focus, which is why the G9 features an updated DFD focus system with 100% coverage capable of the fastest calculations of any AF system to ensure all your shots are sharp. The G9 also features an AF point scope which allows you to pinpoint with a 10x zoom to ensure your subject is sharp, as well as 2 customisable speed modes via the drive dial so you can set up the burst speeds that are right for you.
Lumix has once again upped the game in the stabilisation department. The G9 features Dual IS2 image stabilisation that is now capable of up to 6.5 Stops of correction with compatible lenses. Dual IS works by utilising a combination of sensor and lens stabilisation to keep the camera steady. This means you can capture handheld long exposures & compose long distance ultra-telephoto shots with the 35mm equivalent of 800mm without needing a tripod or monopod.

The G9 features the largest viewfinder on an interchangeable lens camera with massive 0.83x magnification that is larger than top of the line full frame cameras. Framing shots and checking settings is a breeze, so once you’ve tried it out it’s impossible to go back to anything smaller. Also, for those people who wear glasses the G9 features the ability to adjust the magnification level, so you don’t miss any part of the frame. Photographers who like to shoot a range of unique perspectives, will be pleased to know the camera also features a 180° flipout high-resolution LCD touch screen.
At the core of the G9 is a 20MP CMOS sensor that is one of Panasonic’s best yet, with an impressive dynamic range and image quality that make it perfectly suited for creating large format prints. The sensor is powered by a Venus 10 engine which helps the G9 punch well above its weight with cameras that are larger and cost a lot more. But it isn’t just about the capacity to produce excellent quality images, the camera also boasts the ability to create massive 80MP images using innovative sensor shift technology that combine 8 images incamera for ultra-high-resolution results.
