DRESSTO IMPRESS

WHAT MADE YOU START LOVE JUNGLE? Frustration. I couldn’t find the stuff I

WORST FASHION STYLE TO COME OUT IN THE PAST TEN YEARS? I hated high

INSPIRATION: PATTA – the dude is insane! I

ACCESSORIES: My iPhone. I don’t know how

wanted to wear, so I decided to make it myself. I also couldn’t find anything / brands that I related too, something with substance.

love his illustration style and just checked out his new online shop it’s rad. rockwellclothing.com. I just got a book from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London covering their 1950’s textile and wallpaper collections. It’s called V&A Pattern:The Fifties. The pattern, colour and creativity displayed are some of the most inventive and innovative produced in the twentieth century. Also the studio ilovedust.com.

ICONS: I have to give props to RVCA – They

know how to do it! Living the lifestyle, promoting amazing talent and having fun! Another brand that’s growing on me is one out of LA called Commune. They embrace creativity and have some awesome designs. I also like Altamont out of LA – they having a great working philosophy involving collaborating with a bunch of talented people. As for people I look up to, anyone that is happy and loving what they are doing.

DESIGN WEAPON: My design weapon… I

would say dabbling in all areas. I like to try as many things as I can, as you never know where the experiment might take you. You only have to try.

STYLE: My type of style would be a street edge vibe crossed with minimalism and good design fundamentals. Live simply. Design simply.

ALL TIME FAVOURITE FASHION STYLE? I have a real appreciation for the time

when people had to dress formally. Western wear was sick as well, so much crazy denim came out of that period. It was where it all started.

waisted jeans on chicks. That shit was wack. On a side note – Bring back Hypercolour (I’m going to work out how to do that).

I lived without this device. Man it’s so handy – I use the calendar, emailing, GPS, phone, computer everyday. I can’t wait til I’m walking around with a full version of CS7 in my pocket – surely it’s not that far off??

LAST PIECE OF CLOTHING YOU BOUGHT? A fainted red with black vertical

stripes Penguin shirt from Tempe Tip – $3 classic.

FAVOURITE PLACE TO TRAVEL? I went

to Europe last year for the first time. It was insane. I love the fact that you can travel an hour any direction and end up In totally different location, language, timezone, currency, culture. Paris is an inspirational city. The streets are all so interesting. Graffiti covered, pristine buildings. Berlin is also an awesome place.

BEST THING ABOUT WORKING IN LOVE JUNGLE? Creative Freedom. That was the main reason I started working on the brand. Anything is possible, I just have to answer to myself.

THE HARDEST THING ABOUT WORKING IN LOVE JUNGLE? Having

to answer to myself. Creating something from nothing is a hard thing to do – you must have persistence and be ready to put in the hard yards. No one else is going to do it for you.

VINTAGE OR NEW? Vintage is my main choice. New - jeans and tee’s.

CON’T

WHAT DOSE THE T-SHIRT MEAN TO YOU? It’s a canvas to me. It’s also part of life. I

wear one every day and the feel has to be up to standard. It can portray your mood, or simply be an unconscious artwork.

FASHION TIPS: LoveJungle.com. Watch out for some baggier jeans to come in this winter – It’s just easier/warmer rocking these on a cold day. You should also Vintage Hunt Shirting (VHS) for life.

ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY ABOUT YOUR NEW RANGE COMING OUT SOON?

Yeah, sit tight. I’ve got a pretty epic collection about to drop this Summer. The Love Jungle collection has expanded - we’ll now be offering a range of new styles for men and women including denim, shorts, pants, cardigans, singlets, and various jersey cuts.

THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE MAKING AND SELLING TEES, WHAT MAKES LOVE JUNGLE DIFFERENT TO OTHER LABELS?

We have substance. We’re about good design and promoting the creative people into the same things we are.

WHERE DO YOU SEE LOVE JUNGLE IN THE NEXT FIVE OR SO YEARS?

Stocked in the Nations finest boutiques and retailers. A global creative network set up where we collaborate with talented individuals. Exhibiting at Trade shows in America and Europe. Design studio set up nurturing young talent. Having fun.

OPEN MIC…GET IT OFF YOU CHEST: Keep Creating!
