Work, life & creativity. Nat Davis / Design / Advertising / Magazines / Events

Dear team

I put together my first magazine when I was 8 years old, made from cut-outs, layered to create new pages, stuck together with about 10 rolls of sticky tape which was then proudly presented in class as my first publication. Less than 30 years on, I've been full circle in "Mag-land" having worked both in the account service / sales side, and as a graphic designer / art director. I've also raised funding for and published my own premium quality tourism magazine with a first print run of 15,000 copies. Needless to say, I’m definitely into magazines. I love advertising too. I’ve been creating ad campaigns for clients for years, and have seen great results through building trust and increasing spend with clients. Most recently, I've been working as a freelance designer / illustrator for Australian House & Garden magazine and have now become a regular contributor of garden design illustrations.

While I'm a designer, I also have a blend of creative and commercial thinking. I have creative ideas popping out of me on a constant basis. Nothing gives me a pat on the back, better than a client who says “wow” when they see their new creative concept and being a key part in the team that created it. I enjoy working in media. So much so that late nights and deadlines excite me. Being commercially minded, my creative side works well within ad sales and I know how to blend campaigns so they work well within the editorial environment. I am also a passionate event designer, planner, manager. I love events and seeing the ideas come to fruition. Events have been a big part of my career since the beginning. I have managed expos, trade shows, business events, awards ceremonies, corporate functions and promotions at trade and retail level. I am a real go-getter, great at planning and managing budgets, I think outside the box in terms of creative execution and clients love me because I care about their results. I operate well in all stakeholder levels, have always hit or beaten my KPIs and thrive in a busy environment working on multiple jobs.

Team wise, I’m a natural motivator and enjoy empowering others through mindfulness and creativity. I find collaborating with others fun and am also happy working away on my own. I am easy going yet bubbly, not ego driven but results driven. I’m a happy person, because I love the work that I do. I am highly focused and constantly set challenging goals as I am a big thinker. I am passionate about “design with strategy” and realizing creative concepts to print stage. I understand magazines like the blood running through my veins - the commercial applications of marketing via them; the environment / escapism they offer to the reader; how to match and present brands within those environments. Thanks to my experience across the board from big agencies (Mojo / Colenso), big publishing houses (Fairfax / ACP), client side managing small and big budgets, I am a natural cross of sales person and creative designer – a commercially minded, double edge sword, experience that's ideal for this role - I know I’d hit the ground running and thrive in the position if chosen. The bonus? I come wth muffins when you interview me! (I’m not too proud for a bit of bribery sweetness!) I welcome the opportunity to work with you. Nat

Colenso BBDO Natalie was quick to form respected relationships with clients and well understands and lives strong work ethos in her day to day work. Natalie had a positive and effective influence in the team and remained motivated and efficient, irrespective of time or resource pressures. I can well recommend Natalie for any employment where client service and creativity, supported with demanding detail backup is required. - Richard Stevens, Senior Account Director Mojo Partners Natalie was a valued member of our team. Her energy, enthusiasm and commitment earned her the respect of her peers and clients alike. Natalie was a good team player who fitted in well with the Mojo culture (something not always easily achieved). At all times during her tenure, Natalie was honest, apolitical and totally enthusiastic. She appeared to enjoy the chaos and pressure which inevitably accompanies a career in advertising. - Greg Eichman, Partner Fairfax Media Working with Natalie has been a pleasure from the start. She is extremely organized, loyal, driven and efficient. Tie this together with her fun-loving nature and enthusiasm and it makes her an excellent person to have on your team. - Anthony Rice, Advertising Director Trends Publishing Natalie is a proactive member of the team and always one to put her hand up when tasks were being handed out. Natalie proved herself to be a competent and efficient member of our sales structure. During this time she was innovative in her approach to clients, and did everything possible to close sales with is always a bonus in a sales lead environment. - Judy Ash, General Manager
