After three decades we have a good sense of what works best for the Carolinas, and this years collections reflect our best effort yet. We have covered the gamut of styles, materials, and fabrics with an eye to comfort, quality and value.
I am personally so excited about this year with many new introductions, and of course old favorites with
fresh new fabrics. Customization and choice of dozens of frames, multiple finishes and literally hundreds of fabrics make imagination the only limitation on what we can achieve together.
Our tremendous team of Store Managers and Design Consultants receive in excess of 80 hours of product and design training each year. That’s right, ten full days each year, you are truly are dealing with experts many of whom have been with us for many years. For in our view, the best and most loved place in any home, is the outdoor “room”.

OUTDOOR CUSHIONS Handmade in South Carolina
Quality is everything, which is why we manufacture our own cushions to make sure we are providing our customer with a cushion that will withstand the test of time. The process of cushion creation may seem simple, but our process can have as many as 9 hands touching a cushion before it is even placed in a box. This process begins with design, and from there it is an 8 step journey, ending with a thorough quality control inspection. This 8 Step Process ensures each cushion is cut, sewn, stuffed, closed, and bagged with the highest attention to detail, resulting in a cushion that will provide comfort and style in your outdoor space for years to come

MATERIALS The inside scoop, plus care and maintenance ALUMINUM FURNITURE
Cast aluminum is a heavy, tough material that is rust-free through a powder coating process. This process far exceeds other conventional paint finishes and results in a scratch resistant surface which is impervious to moisture and easy to clean. The style choices are endless in aluminum from very contemporary to traditional and classic.
TIP: Beware of products typically sold in Big Box stores. To keep costs down, they use powder coated steel, which will rust regardless of whether you are in a coastal area or not, the hand applied finishes used in quality furniture create a luxury patina finish not available at discount or chain stores.
POLYWOOD FURNITURE
Polywood, or High-density polyetheylene, is one of the many man-made materials used in creating outdoor furniture. Unlike most composite lumber, it has zero waste-wood. It is often coveted for its ability to hold up to rain, salt spray, and extreme temperatures, never needing paint, stain, or sealant. This product is easy to clean, and will not absorb water.
TIP: Beware of cheap imitation mixtures that will provide a lower quality finished piece. Also, beware of thinner furniture, which can bend and warp over time. The hardware finishes are also something to be weary of, as some lower cost companies will use hardware that may rust, or may not be properly sunken, potentially causing harm.
ALL WEATHER WICKER
Today’s all weather wicker no longer needs to be kept under covered porches. It is weather and UV resistant as well as being colorfast, extremely hard wearing and easy to clean. It will not rot or fade, and with a simple vacuuming and a wash of a mild soap and water solution, your all-weather wicker will look great through the years. This new material provides you with the look of classic wicker but the durability to remain outdoors all year long.
TIP: Beware of inexpensive wicker. To save cost, wicker strands are manufactured with additives that cause wicker to stretch and lose shape over time. Cushions are thin and poorly constructed with low quality foam and may look good at a local Big Box store, but down the road, will look exactly what they are - “cheap and poor quality.”
WOOD FURNITURE
We offer both Teak and Ipe. Left to age naturally, Teak and Ipe will gradually turn to a soft silvery grey. A bi-yearly oiling is all these durable woods need. If you wish to retain the golden brown color of new teak furniture, an application of sealer will provide continuous protection. Lastly, a Wood Protector creates an invisible shield that will prevent stains and oils from penetrating into the wood. If you love the look of classic wood - Teak or Ipe is the way to go.
TIP: Beware of low priced promotional companies that offer “To Good to be True !” offers on the internet. These are often poorly made products using trees that are harvested too young. The wood will break down leaving ridges as the grain separates. Investing in quality will ensure heirloom furniture!
OUTDOOR FABRICS
No longer just the basics, our range of outdoor fabrics offer as much variety as indoor upholstery. However, they are engineered for rain, snow and will not fade in direct sunlight. Essentially weatherproof, you now have so many more choices than in days gone by. Designed to last up to 10x longer than indoor fabrics, maintenance is easy. To keep fabric in tip-top shape - brush off loose dirt and clean with mild soap and water. The use of protective furniture covers will ensure your outdoor fabrics look stunning year after year.
TIP: Insist on Sunbrella or other recognized brands. Be sure to understand there are different grades at vastly different price points. There are plenty of imposters! Also insist on understanding cushion construction and foam. Since cushions are half the value in any upholstered set, longevity will depend on construction, cushion thickness, etc.

WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL DESIGN?
Here’s just a few helpful tips in making your outdoor design space successful. - Space Planning: Too many pieces are cramped, too few pieces looks unfinished and sparse - Center with a rug or fire pit to create a focal point of interest - Use pops of color with pillows, throws, lamps, etc. - Create texture through layering different patterns, colors, and coordinating accessories - Mix media, such as combining wicker with teak, or cast aluminum with ceramic garden stools or accessories 21
