HOLY HOUR OF DEVOTION Month of the Sacred Heart Since the 16th century Catholic piety has assigned entire months to special devotions. The month of June is set apart for devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus even though this year the Feast of the Sacred Heart fell on 30th May thanks to an unusually early Lent. June is traditionally the month when Catholics are urged to show special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Devotion to the Sacred Heart is the celebration of God's love for us. The Sacred Heart is the symbol of the eternal love by which "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son". (Jn 3:16

TODAY'S REFLECTION The person in misery does not need a look that judges and criticises, but a comforting presence. Jesus looked at the ordinary people, and seeing how needy they were, he had compassion on them and began to minister to them. Compassion means that I suffer with you; I accept into my heart the misery in yours; I become one with you in your pain. I may not be able to relieve that pain, but by understanding it and sharing it, I make it possible for you to bear it. Lord, give us warm and generous hearts so that we may be agents of your compassion to others
