Peter and Paul, we are recalling that these two apostles brought the message of Christ from its first home in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, to the natioms, right out to the ends of the earth. Our community is founded upon them and lives today because what they handed on from Christ, has been kept and handed down the generations to us. The Lord chose these men to be his messengers in the past, and has chosen us to be their successors today. So, let us reflect how faithful we have been as disciples. World Youth Day – Chris White writes: It is not long before I and forty four others from our Diocese set off for Australia for World Youth Day, so I thought I would tell you about what I will be doing in those two weeks. For the first week, I shall be staying with a parish just outside of Melbourne, and doing some work to help with the local community; exactly what that consists of we are not too sure about, so we are really eager to find out more! In the second week we complete our pilgrimage to Sydney. The city will have been turned into a huge youth festival for the week, giving us a chance to watch bands as well as visit seminars to learn more about our faith. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all again for your support, and to ask you to keep me, and Sebastian Karam (the other person being sponsored by our Pastoral Area) and the rest of the group, in your prayers over the coming weeks.

St Amand’s Catholic Primary School St Mary’s Road, East Hendred, Wantage, OX12 8LF Tel: 01235 833342 Fax: 01235 861320 www.st-amands.oxon.sch.uk It’s been a busy week with several school trips, enjoyed by all the children. Visits included to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Northmoor Trust and a great trip to the Railway Museum in Swindon, where Class 4 toke part in a World War two experience. Children and teachers went dressed 1940’s style and experienced what it was like to be an evacuee. As well as having a lot of fun, they learned how hard it was for children during the war. The school fete went very well, despite the poor weather. As well as lots of stalls and games, the school Irish dance class gave a great performance, as did Class 5’s ukulele band! The fete raised over £1700 which the PTA will use to buy equipment for the school.
