Advanced notice of the Ecumenical Advent service to be held this year in St. Augustine’s on Sunday, 7th December at 6pm. Please come join with our friends in the St. Augustine’s Benefice in an uplifting, thoughtful musical evening service. The choirs of St. Augustine’s, St. Mary’s and the churches of Lockinge and Ardington will all join together for this service. Wine and nibbles are served after the service.
Advent at the Monastery This year we shall be taking a look at the liturgy of Advent, especially the prayers and readings of the four Sundays of Advent. We shall begin on 26/27 November with a brief overview of the Advent season before tackling the 1st Sunday readings and prayers and end on 17 December with a talk on the "O antiphons" and liturgy of the week before Christmas. Meetings are open to all and will take place in the monastery as follows: 2. Wednesday 3 December at 2.30 pm, repeated at 7.30 pm 3. Wednesday 10 December at 2.30 pm, repeated at 7.30 pm 4. Wednesday 17 Decemberat 2.30 pm, repeated at 7.30 pm. Please bring a Sunday missal if you have one. Refreshments will be served. RECONCILLATION SERVICE

ADVENT PRAYER AT ST PATRICKS Thursdays 4th, 11th and 18th December. 7p.m -8 p.m. St Patrick's will be open for a period of quiet prayer and reflection followed by a short Eucharistic Service at 7.45p.m. Rev Rita Ball’s celebration of ten years as a priest. The vicar of St Augustine’s is marking her ten years as a priest of the Anglican Church TODAY after the Benefice Service at 10.00. She has invited the parishioners of St Mary’s to join those of St Augustine’s to a celebration in Snell’s Hall after that service. Raffle ticket Stubs for the East Hendred Christmas Bazaar should have been back this weekend. If anyone has forgotten please drop them into St Amand's School or School House. GATHERING TOGETHER IN CHRIST. A group of us will be meeting on Tuesday 2nd December to practise lectio divina, using the Bible to help us pray. We shall be concentrating on a passage in the eighth chapter of Mark’s Gospel. Everyone is welcome and those wishing to come are encouraged to read prayerfully this chapter at least once before the meeting. The children at St Amands did various activities to support this focus on bullying including an excellent Assembly prepared by Class 4. This week Class 1’s assembly was on Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light. The children had great fun preparing for their presentations. Preparations are also well under way for the Christmas play and carol concert. Dates for your Diary Friday 12th December – St Amands Choir visit English martyrs for a Christmas concert. St. Amands is your local Catholic primary school, with a free bus from Didcot, Wantage and Grove. You are welcome to visit the school at any time.
