EDUCATION BACKGROUND 2015 - 2017

University of Adelaide, MA in Landscape Architecture

2009 - 2013

Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, BA in Environmental Arts

WORKING EXPERIENCE Nov. 2016 - Jun. 2017 Oxigen, Australia, Graduate Landscape Architect My duties included landscape design, planting selection, CAD drawing, preparing photomontage and making perspectives etc. Whilst I was involved in approximately 20 projects within the office, I took primary responsibility for two projects related to the public realm associated with the Balaklava Town Hall and a new hotel and apartment complex at Bridgeport Hotel. Our client was satisfied with my garden design such as a different colour theme in each season as well as the noticeable information board. As a graphic designer, I participated in the 84 Halifax Street project, which won the 2017 SA AILA award. Main projects name: 1 Renmark Club landscape plan, 2 Links Lady Bay, 3 Fraser & Garrad Reserves, 4 Windsor Street Detail Plan, 5 Balaklava Town Hall, 6 Werribee Meetinghouse landscape plan, 7 Jetty Road Master Plan, 8 Bridgeport Hotel 9 84 Halifax Street Dec. 2013 - Apr. 2014 China Urban Construction Design & Research Institute, China, Intern As a Landscape Architect intern, I worked in a team to design a residential landscaping and roadside plans. I was responsible for site analysis, plants selection & arrangement, and CAD documentation. I have learned to analyse landscape functions, manage spaces, and plant layout & selection. My task was completed in 4 days within the required time, and I have developed transferrable skills sets such as time management, project management and teamwork. Jun. 2011 - Jul.2011 Shenzhen Sicheng Landscape Consultants, China, Intern Working as a part of Urban Design team, I participated in Western Park re-development project of Xi’an City Wall council. In this project, we needed to design a sunken entry plaza and a pedestrian street. My responsibility involved site visiting, measurement, tracing, and graphic layout. This experience significantly enhanced my knowledge in basic design principles and practical techniques such as CAD documentation and various measurement.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Jul. 2015 TAP Design Workshop, Italy I went to Italy to join a workshop named TAP Design Workshop (Tongji University, Politecnico Di Milano and University of Adelaide) in 2015, which belongs to United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization. This experience enhanced my understanding of landscape architecture style and design schedule among different countries, as well as better cross-cultural awareness.

IMPRINT PADDOCKS SPORTS & CONNECTIONS

A picturesque place to be with friends and family in a relaxed atmosphere The Paddocks was historically used as a sporting hub. However, it did not play a big role in improving the nearby residents` physical and social health. Council has considered a number of options to upgrade The Paddocks Community Centre, primarily seeking to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents and community to form a virtuous circle. There are 3 schools, Uni SA, more than 10 sports clubs and almost 20 recreation spaces or green corridors in close proximity to the Paddocks. Depending on the gradient, there are 6 main storm water drains dissecting the wet-land in The Paddocks. The proposed enhanced green corridors walking(cycling) trails will connect education area, sports club, and recreation spaces with The Paddocks. In addition, more sports spaces and facilities will be built and updated, which will create a more adaptable and flexible spaces for residents. The inspiration for thr design concept was devived from the ‘bike imprint’, ‘dog footprint’ and the soccer boot ‘footprint’. Using the bike imprint to connect the areas, the pets` footprint will be the big area, and the soccer boot footprint to be the enclosed spaces. I devided the area into 2 zones: north of The Paddocks will be the sports zone, south will be recreation wetland. The edge condition of the site was also important to consider that how each ‘edge’ interacted with the creek and wet-lands. Linking the exsiting walking and cycling trail withe the new proposed trail was a key design idea too.

THE UNKNOWN

EXPLORING IN THE OUTDOOR MUSEUM Everybody faces the Unknown. This project includes everyone in exploring the unknown, in being excited by mysteries in the world around us. The project is located in Wita Wirra, in the South Parklands at the edge of the city of Adelaide. We chose this area because it is isolated with the lowest numbers of visitors in the whole Parklands. The knowledge park is designed for six types of users that include all age groups. Everyone can experience boredom and repetition in urban life. Instead of doing humdrum things every day, this park offers people the chance to feel and enjoy exploring fresh things. Everyone feels excited when they find, investigate and gain knowledge from mysteries. Therefore, we intended to evoke the curiosity of people to explore the unknown world – that is science. Adelaide is a city with rich scientific history, especially in the disciplines of botany, geology, physics, astronomy and biology. After considering the current situation of places for science education, we thought that there could be more active ways to interact with diverse users in the one space, instead of the formal science centres and museums. We have provided an outdoor space that produces a public landscape to suit the contemporary needs of the people who use it. Conceived to take advantage of the exiting site elements and cultural associations, we divided the park into five scientific discipline areas which provide different practical and interactive activities for each discipline and for

JETTY ROAD

A DESTINATION AND COASTAL COMMUNITY HIGH STREET. The Masterplan for Jetty Road is a planning and design framework that describes a vision for the street and provides a guide for future development over time. Jetty Road and its broader precinct is currently a focus for recreation, entertainment and business, working successfully as a high street that serves the local Glenelg community. It is also a major tourist destination in South Australia. The aim of the Masterplan is to retain the distinctive character of Jetty Road, whilst proposing new ideas and improvements that contribute to the attractiveness and function of Jetty Road.

BALAKLAVA TOWN HALL SITUATED IN THE CENTRE OF TOWN THE BALAKLAVA TOWN HALL IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.

The town of Balaklava is located in South Australia. It is my first time to take primary responsibility for a project - Balaklava Town Hall. The client wanted to update and beautify the entry of Town Hall, which included changing the sign, adding a new information board & some artwork, and building a little garden. The design of curved kerbs is convenient for large vehicles entering and exiting. The old sign is replaced by a new information board. I selected 3 main colours shrubs (red, yellow, white) for the little garden to match up with the building`s style. These plants can also bring different colours in each season. The new sign with entrance direction near the Town Hall. The new artworks are not only Balaklava`s cultural symbol, but also hide the electric box. All the designs are simple and inexpensive.

SMALL PROJECT (Poster)

These two small spaces connect with the street (shop front) sharing the busy-ness of the public realm with the chaos of a small bar and cafe. The open Halifax Street facade connects directly to the upper level courtyard drawing in north-facing sunlight and ventlation to the internal spaces. The courtyard and verge garden are clearly a modern interventions within the streetcape, yet fit in comfortably within their surroundings, including the community that passes by, inspiring confidence in contemporary, innovative design practice and providing positive direction for design quality within an urban context. Thecontemporary design approach is, never-the-less, timeless, enhancing and promoting the emerging character of Halifax Street and contributing towards the cultural identity of the wider neibourhood. At the same time, comfortable and iconic spaces that are wonderful to be in are created.
