ABSTRACT
ARCHITECTS IN CONVESATION
This exhibit is dedicated to the one percent of the world’s population; the “Un” welcomed population within our societies. The forcibly displaced population that is living in temporary arrangements for one reason or another, whether conflicts, economic crises, or environmental disasters, to name a few. While governments are reluctant to commit to providing long-term solutions, and with fewer displaced populations able to return Home every year, 8 designers who feel that architecture, along with people, can be catalysts for change, are working together with local communities with a range of mediums and scales that respond to the complex circumstances brought about by forced displacement. On the main level, visitors to this exhibit will experience life of the displaced firsthand, to better understand the challenges of temporary living and the short and long-term trauma it may cause. After all, the homeless are people like all of us, with various needs, skills, ambitions, who are simply forced to inhabit the planet in different circumstances. Empathy is key to help people understand the situation of others and to motivate communities to become the power of change in their own neighborhoods. The lower level will be dedicated to the ways in which architecture and design have addressed contemporary notions of shelter, as seen through homelessness, migration, and global refugee emergencies.

WHY EARTH-BAG ARCHITECTURE?
20
1. Accessibility 2. Affordability 3. Sustainability 4. Utilize minimum amounts of purchased product and maximum amounts of the free earth under your feet. 5. Almost any earth can be used to fill the bags. Barbed wire is used for reinforcing, and the speed of building is much faster yet still in the hands of people. 6. Participate in a family or community activity by building a shelter, or a sustainable community.

Besieged Ghouta, Damascus, Syria Project Manager: Dima Almeniawi Project is a SAEA initiative Project was executed by local workers, training and construction supervision was done remotely
Unfortunately, we couldn’t build more units due to continued bombing on the area and eventually residents had to evacuate North towards the borders with Turkey running from shelling,
