Extremely Limited Mintage Series’ in Strong Demand des Inclu red be m u N of ficate Certi ticity n e Auth

2010 Robert Schumann 1810-1856 Great Composer Series 1oz $1 Silver Proof Third Series Release; Only 5,000 Minted!

Affordable and Beautifully Designed Mint Releases des Inclu red be m u N of ficate Certi ticity n e Auth

2010 Sea Life Series The Reef Moray Eel 1/2oz 50c Silver Proof Final Series Release; Only 10,000 Minted!

Robert Schumann was born 200 years ago in Saxony on June 8 1810. As a young man he studied the piano, but an injury to his right hand ended any hope of him becoming a virtuoso. Instead, Schumann dedicated himself to composition. During different phases of his career, he focussed on keyboard, chamber and choral music, song, opera and symphony. Schumann’s genius, however, was cut short by his death in an asylum in 1856.

The final release from the first Sea Life series portrays a Moray Eel, which can be seen emerging from reef hideaways in tropical and temperate waters around Australia. Contrary to the impression given by its snake-like body, long sharp teeth and open-mouth, the Moray Eel is not an aggressive fish. Although capable of delivering a nasty bite if provoked, its mouth is generally open so that water can pass over its gills.

Celebrating the life and works of one of the most famous and important 19th century Romantic composers, this new Tuvalu release is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of Robert Schumann, a treble clef and musical notes. As well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the design includes the inscription ‘Robert Schumann 1810-1856’.

Like the previous four releases, this coin is struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. Each coin in this series is housed in a presentation case which comes in a colourfully illustrated box-shipper. When lined-up in release order, the shipper illustrations form a linked image depicting all five reef creatures.

commemorati coins ve in a roll

Fought near the Spanish port of Cadiz on 21 October 1805, the Battle of Trafalgar ended Napoleon Bonaparte’s plan to invade Britain. Brave tactics employed by Lord Nelson’s outnumbered fleet saw the Royal Navy achieve one of its most celebrated victories. But it came at the cost of the legendary admiral’s life. Picked off by a French marksman, Nelson died aboard his illustrious flagship, HMS Victory.

The Sydney Cove Medallion, made by Josiah Wedgwood in 1789, is an important Australian artefact with great historical significance. Crafted at Wedgwood’s Staffordshire with pottery using clay dispatched from Australia by British settlers at Sydney Cove in 1788, it depicts an allegorical design symbolising ‘time’s opening scenes’ in the new colony. For the first time since it was created by Josiah Wedgwood, ‘The Father of English Potters’, the medallion’s classical design has been replicated on the reverse of an Australian commemorative silver coin. The coin is housed in gift-box presentation packaging with an exclusive Wedgwood fine bone china plate, along with an informative booklet. Beautifully designed and masterfully engraved, this stunning proof medallion and Wedgwood plate set are an ideal Mother’s Day gift! 2010 100 Years of Australian Coinage 1oz $1 Silver Proof

minted to demand! This year the Royal Australian Mint’s Made to Order $1 coin celebrates 100 years of Australian Coinage and features the original 1910 Australian Edward VII four silver coins. Struck in fine silver to the highest possible standard, the coin’s mintage will be determined once orders are received. This is a special and fitting tribute to a significant milestone in Australia’s numismatic history. The commencement of Australia’s official currency was heralded by the arrival of the first silver coins from the London Mint in 1910. The first shipment consisted entirely of shillings and arrived in March 1910, with threepence, sixpence and florins arriving later in October. All four denominations of the earliest coins bore an effigy of King Edward VII designed by George W de Saules on the obverse ~ an original likeness different to that used on British coins of the time. Strictly made to order, this fine silver Proof is struck to the highest possible standards.

Affordable Opportunities in Rare Commonwealth Silver Stunners Set to Steadily Rise in Value Quality grade Pre-Decimal Commonwealth silver coins have proved solid price performers for over 40 years, consistently achieving impressive results whenever they appear on the market. At an Australian auction held last year choice Uncirculated silver Pre-Decimals were touted “the name of the game”, fetching strong prices. At another auction a choice 1911 Florin sold for almost $1,400 above the estimated price and a 1932 nearly choice example realised almost $2,500 above estimate.

A Melbourne Mint Marvel It may be the small fry of the silver Pre-Decimal series but the humble Threepence packs quite a punch on the investment scene. It has always been a popular acquisition for anyone assembling a specialised collection of Australian silver coinage. It appeals to astute buyers, as it’s generally less expensive to secure in high grades. The year 1916 marked the first time the threepence was minted in Australia instead of London. The Melbourne Mint produced the threepence with a Melbourne mintmark from 1916 to 1920.

The Sixpence series is unique in that it commenced in 1910 with a single year of issue bearing the effigy of Edward VII on the obverse, and was the only denomination with a reverse design that remained unchanged during its 53 years. Sixpences were a popular medium of exchange in Australia until the mid-1920s. They were so well used and worn over time that they are now extremely difficult to acquire in choice quality grades. The George V sixpence, issued from 1911 to 1936, first arrived in Australia from England nearly five months after Edward VII died.

Coins from our Commonwealth series are amongst the most collected of Australian currency. Their link with our country’s social and economic development and key events in history, underpin their investment appeal. The one shilling was struck in England from 1910 to 1915 and at the Melbourne Mint from 1916. Sydney and Melbourne mints shared the task of minting the coins without mintmarks from 1922 to 1926, when the Sydney Mint closed and Melbourne continued production until 1963.
