ENVIRONMENT Nature is the inspiration & key driver for our designs

Our environmental sensitivity is the central stimulus of the appreciation of the need to marry nature with functionality and in this way dictates the use of natural raw materials in the creation of every object which reflect nature itself. Unique items make a statement about who a person is. This is reflected in our passion for detail and the vision to create and share consumer products that bear the hallmark of a work of art. “Each single design created with nature in mind.

PHILOSOPHY Design reveals the way we interpret functionality and personal experience

The environment that surrounds us is filled with challenges and inspiration for the process of designing objects, thus some questions that come to mind are: “what makes it what it is”, “why this form” and “why it functions as it does” ? It is the quest for answers that brings one closer to the merits, the functionality and practicality of an item, which in turn may conjure up new and unique forms and experience of that same object or space. And the results of this critical rethinking mental process leads to the reconstruction and remoulding of different objects. Besides improving on the practical aspect of such objects, the urge to alter their conventional characteristics and features is omnipresent in every aspect. Seeing an ordinary item, or even a spatial context in general, from an architect’s point of view may result in objects that express a more personal taste and style. Attention to detail at the utilisation of impressions captured from routine pursuits are the heart of this design philosophy. It is the embracing of basic needs, satisfied by simple functional objects and everyday spatial contexts, that sets the challenge in motion; while the vision of their transformation into personal works of art becomes a preoccupation.

CRAFTING Unique objects with artisan handmade details handcrafted in Greece

We place great emphasis on quality and sustainability in all aspects of the manufacturing process. By employing local craftsmen, using traditional techniques and tooling in the fabrication of every single product, it becomes apparent a realisation of distinct values and a commitment to the creation of unique objects with a touch of artisan detail. Most of object components are handcrafted, except for the laser carved metal parts of some figure connotation (e.g. ornithes beaks), and are carefully manufactured in a way that meets high expectations of use and practice. Being handcrafted, some final objects display minor variations such as those in the pattern of wood grains; attesting to their uniqueness of material and craftsmanship.

CONTRIBUTION Each single design is created with nature in mind

Respect and passion for the preservation of the environment is very important. As well as making significant contributions to support a number of organizations whose aim it is to protect and improve conditions for wildlife, including also actively participation in their activities. This is a way of interacting with nature and establishing a mutually profitable relationship with the natural world. The design of every objects is an expression of the respect to our surroundings. Hence, all creations spotlight different aspects of nature such as the beauty and variety existing in the ornithological world and the strength the rhinoceros displays. In this way, all objects are intended to sensitize people to the beauty of the natural world and awaken their appreciation of nature along with instilling in them a need to participate in the protection of endangered species.

THE WAY WE SEE THE WORLD Hangers

24

25

Planks A family of hangers are fashioned from different types of wood panels and coloured to emphasize the fusion of materials with the individuality of each hanger. Presented in five categories they share the same body form: ‘Flakes’ constructed from oriented strand board; (OSB), “Boards” from plywood and “Joints” made from a selection of different hardwood boards.

26

PLANKS The Concept behind the Objects

It is a central objective and also a great pleasure in changing the way people see ordinary objects. One way of achieving this goal is by the interpretation of the distinct characteristics of wooden by-products in a creative and unique way. By converting an ordinary wooden plank into different types of hangers, unlocks the hidden potential that determines this by-product; the random fragments of an OSB plank are interpreted as wooden flakes. As this process relies on the random layering of the wooden strands, the outcome of the artistic painting of every hanger is unique and adventitious. Creativity above all else was the key that led to the creation of so many unique objects from something as ordinary as a wooden panel. The architect’s critical thinking urges for a new ways to approach the design and production process of every object from a monotonous procedure to a creative and expressive experience.

27

28

Boards These hangers are available in single block colours, intended to emphisize their simplicity as well as their symmetrical qualities; a wooden f ibre canvas reminiscent of everyday life.

Flakes Fashioned in an accidental and disordered orientation of compressed layers, these hangers are enhanced by the use of colour and brushing which results in their f lakey appearance. Each individual hanger is unique in itself.

29

Joints Emphasizing the union of diverse woods types, these hangers of varying weights combine different grains, natural colours and structure. The natural characteristics – a result of environmental influences – are beautifully represented in these objects.

30

31

Ornithes A metaphorical image of birds in a line. The metallic parts represent the bodies of majestic birds; their beaks forming the hook of the hangers are attached to the upper wooden joints that represent the birds’ wings. So intriguing in real life, this scene is an accidental situation that instantly merges two different worlds; the natural need of birds to rest and the linear presentation of rows.

32

ORNITHES The Concept behind the Objects

The design philosophy of “nature inspired objects is so evident in the crafting of Ornithes; a clear example of how nature may inspire design. Careful observation of birds motivates an adaptation of a naturalistic approach in redesigning an ordinary item. Everyday life is full of ordinary products, most of which are unremarkable and thus there is a tendency to see only their practical side. The design of Ornithes represents a marriage of daily function with nature. The wardrobe doors are open to a journey to a world where majestic birds reside; and who knows, maybe someday a real visit to this world may come true!

33

34

Woodpecker An enigmatic bird dwelling in forests and woodlands around the world, it is currently in need of protection.

Mynah The Mynahs are passerine birds native to southern Asia; especially India. Some are considered to be talking birds because of their ability to reproduce sounds, including human speech. Declared an invasive species it is ready to invade your home.

35

Flamingo The Flamingo often stands on one leg with the other leg tucked beneath its body. This behaviour is not fully understood, some believe that standing on one leg may allow them to conserve more body heat given that they spend a significant amount of time wading in cold water. This action is represented in our hangers; ‘standing’ with poise and balance in your wardrobe.

36

Turaco The Turacos or literally translated “banana-eaters are easily identified by their prominent crests and vivid colours. They choose to move in family groups and so would be undaunted at sharing closet space with other birds.

37

Ibis The Ibises are a group of long-legged wading birds with down-curved bills often found probing for food alongside spoonbills or herons. They nest in trees and would be very comfortable resting in your wardrobe.

38

Goose Monogamous waterfowl, geese live in permanent pairs through the year. The pair become territorial in nesting season. Why not add a gaggle of geese to your closet.

Hawk Hawks are probably the most intelligent of all birds. Their sharp vision makes them very able hunters. Considered to be a symbol of protection, the Egyptians thought of them as guardians of the Pharaohs. Perhaps therefore they can be ‘guardians’ of your precious attire.

39

Cuckoo Cuckoos are slender birds with long tails and the stamina for strong direct flight. They are generally migratory birds, which feel no guilt about laying their eggs in other birds’ nests. Allow them to migrate to your closet.

40

41

Joggers Suspended on your wardrobe pole, this hanger design gives the impression of a group of runners poised to begin jogging. Joggers give motion to your wardrobe and the opportunity to hang your clothes in different heights as their hooks come in four different sizes

42

JOGGERS T he Concept behind the Objects

Giving movement to a static object is very intriguing indeed. Perhaps this is why Joggers challenges the way of perceiving objects. Joggers draw their inspiration from athletes who transform themselves in an endeavour to master their sport. In much the same way Joggers can be reshaped, too. By changing the height of the hook they allow for movement inside a wardrobe. The metal part of the hanger express the body of an athlete; strong and unbending, whereas the parts that are covered in twine represent an athletes clothes.

43

44

Twines Dressed to suit and wrapped in black cord legs these hangers bring to mind aerobics. The body of each hanger has been carvedby laser with precision and its cushions are carefully handwrapped to provide a professional finish. There are four sizes available (S, M, L, XL) and four hanger heights to cater for distinct tastes.

45

Clones Sprinting though wardrobe traffic, this family of hangers is cloned in two metallic heads. The four sizes available, (S, M, L, XL) and four hanger heights, cater for the needs of their owners.

46

47

OnHooks This family of clothes hangers boasts a body handcrafted from contrasting wood types, which enhances the quality of its structure. A metallic hand tool formed with three hooks hangs on your clothes rack and can be trusted to carry clothes competently.

48

ONHOOKS The Concept behind the Objects

The objects a person chooses is often an expression of their personality. OnHooks appeal to a wide range of tastes and express the belief that special clothes need a unique hanger to emphasize the importance of a person’s rich and wide personality. The very strong feature of onHooks objects is the three individual hooks that provide a firm and stable feeling about the hanger, which is interpreted as a threefold relationship between the person, the clothes and the hanger as an object.

49

50

Classic Constructed from light tropical Meranti wood in a minimalist design, this hanger suggests simplicity.

Indian Produced from tropical Meranti wood with cane details, it conveys the spirit of an indigenous people.

51

Ivory The pale coloured body of this hanger contrasts well with its three black hooks.

52

Smudge A blend of oak and walnut layers with a ‘smudge’ of artistic expression and thought, makes every smudge hanger unique.

Zebra As the name impires, the hanger is constructed using vertical stripes of oak and walnut.

53

Vest Three different wood types are brought together in vertical strips resembling the human shoulder.

Twilight Simply stylish oak enhanced with black rendering.

54

Tuxedo Resembling a tuxedo with its three pinched joints, this hanger has an angled front constructed from a combination of oak and walnut.

55

Twin The contrasting effect of two wood types, resulting in a beautiful blend of wood grains and natural colours is brought to you with the Twin hanger.

Vintage Antiqued in brown and brushed, this is a design reminiscent of days gone by.

56

57

Antipodes This family of hangers makes hooking and unhooking an interesting challenge. The two hooks face each other, leaving the space between for a pole to pass through. The metallic hooks are the main feature of this design and are carved by laser. Facing each other they are bonded by two pieces of wood. This unity (fusion) of four pieces; two of wood and two of metal, resembles two opposing hangers which are fused together; two hangers sitting in different directions; defying you to solve the mystery of how to hook and unhook them.

58

ANTIPODES The Concept behind the Objects

How could one give a hanger a feeling of permanence? That’s the main concept behind Antipodes! The two opposing hooks that provide this feeling of permanence also create a puzzling effect - how to remove the hanger from the wardrobe’s rail! What is very interesting about Antipodes is that it is a permanent fixture; well s uited for a hotel or a cloakroom in any public place.

59

60

Captain Reminiscent of a pirate’s hook, this hanger evokes thoughts of a captain’s tale or a sailor’s adventure.

Pintail This large duck resides in wetlands and forms large mixed flocks with other species of duck. Human activities, such as agriculture, hunting and fishing have had a significant impact on its numbers. Keep it safe in the warmth of your closet.

61

Cygnus These swans are closely related to geese and ducks and are of the largest flying birds. They mate for life and nest near water. They are very protective of their nests and just like them, their namesakes will protect your valuable items of clothing.

62

63

Rhinos This family of wall-mounted hangers resembles the five living species of rhinoceros. It introduces a new experience of hangers but also raises an awareness of these endangered animals that require all the assistance we can give them.

64

RHINOS The Concept behind the Objects

Rhinoceros is such a magnificent creature and the main objective of this family of objects is to bring it into our lives, in terms of symbolism. Rhino hangers bring some of the characteristics of this majestic animal into our homes. As strong as the animal itself, these sturdy hangers will not collapse under the weight of coats soaked by the rain and will support the weight of any number of garments. We find great pleasure in nature and we try to interpret its features in order to bring it into our daily lives and fuse our two worlds. That in a way is what Rhinos are all about; a humorous yet very useful symbolism of nature in our home.

65

66

White The white rhino is the largest of all rhino species and very close to disappearing from the wild. Including (securing?) one in your home, helps ensure its existence while at the same time providing you with something special and unique.

Black The black rhino inhabits areas where there are sufficient resources to support them. Provide the space and they will reside in your wardrobe.

67

Sumatran The Sumatran rhino has been on earth longer than any other living mammal. They tend to spend their days lounging in water and mud. Not so in your home, but this reliable fellow will reward you with its quality and longevity.

Indian The great one-horned rhino (a silver-brown colour in our collection) is a vulnerable creature and primarily found in the north-eastern Assam area of India. Indian rhinos have an excellent senses of hearing and smell, but relatively poor eyesight. Although they are mainly solitary they will value your company and will complete your collection with grace and fortitude.

Javan Possibly the rarest large mammal on the earth; more than likely it will run away from an enemy rather than attack. In your home it will find a sanctuary and reward you with reliability and style.
