PLEASE QUOTE: DDCP-YD/EYCB/ARP/ZM Budapest, 12 May 2014 To Whom It May Concern: The Youth Department of the Council of Europe has been running for the past 14 years a Human Rights Education Youth Programme that aims to mainstream human rights education in youth work and to contribute to the constant development of quality and accessibility of human rights education. The programme is centred around “Compass. Manual on Human Rights Education with Young People” and includes as a constant feature the organisation by the Youth Department of a Training Course for Trainers in Human Rights Education at European level, and the subsequent organisation together with partners of national training courses in human rights education with young people addressing educators in both formal and non-formal sectors and other key multipliers. A Training Course for Trainers in Human Rights Education (8th edition, 2013-4)is currently taking place involving 38 participants from Europe and beyond. The training course comprises a residential seminar (8-16 April 2014, European Youth Centre Budapest); e-learning (December –April and April-October 2014), as well as training and advocacy project development by the participants as an integral part of their learning and practice to be initiated throughout 2014. For the project development and implementation phase, the Youth Department is providing participants with mentor and institutional support. Mr Matia Losego is a participant in the Training Course for Trainers in Human Rights Education. He is a very active and committed trainer in human rights education. Together with his organisation, Dinamo, he is planning a project entitled “We stand for human rights!”. The project aims to mainstream human rights education in Portugal, at national level and involves a umber of key partners. The long term-project aims to make available the translation in Portuguese language of the Compass manual – edition 2012, along with a national training course for youth work and academia, hence ensuring the bridge between non-formal and formal education sector, further promote human rights education at national level. We have full trust that Mr Matia Losego together with Dinamo organisation have the capacity and competence to develop, implement, evaluate and follow-up on such a project. The organisation has proved to be a reliable and committed partner of the Youth Department of the Council of Europe as it undertook important project such as a National Training Course in Human Rights Education in 2012. We strongly recommend you to support the project of Dinamo and Mr. Losego as a contribution to the advancement of human rights education in Portugal.
