Pod's Away RESTAURANT | TIME-PROBLEM DESIGN

Project Brief: On the period time of pandemic we were asked to design a restaurant with considering all the protocols of COVID-19 guidelines in such a short time (3-days). The site area is about 1650sqm with irregular shape. It was really challenging to design this restaurant by following all instructions.

Pg|13

2021|SEM 05

Aim of the design was contemporary way of spatial planning in pandemic situation, attaining perfect ambience with aesthetically appealing built form and functional efficiency in design of spaces.

CONCEPT:

The concept of the restaurant is avoiding the one to one person contact from other customers by providing them a partially closed cubicles which is arranged in adjacent manner to avoid the transmission of air from others. cubicle pods designed in size of occupying 4 & 2 seating tables.

Placement of contact less cubicles. Totally 5 cubicles of 4 seater & 5 cubicles of 2 seater has been placed on the upper level.

The pods are placed on upper level to have more ventilation and also for aesthetic look.

Group seating's are also provided for families on open area of upper level.

Packed circulation is avoided by giving 3 staircase through upper and lower floor.

Pod's Away Some restaurants and hotels remained open during lockdown for limited seating and takeaway orders. The biggest challenge was to accommodating them with proper social distancing rules and adapting to hygiene safety measures. So I'm confident that this restaurant design would be 99.9% COVID free environment.
