Taking Terp Startup Virtual

VENTURES IN THIS YEAR’S COHORT experienced the Dingman Center’s first ever entirely virtual Terp Startup. Since the accelerator was launched with six teams in 2015, it has doubled in size through the generous support of Matt Fishlinger ’07 and other donors. This summer, the Dingman Center supported 12 teams with a $5,000 stipend, virtual coworking space, expert-led workshops and dedicated coaches over an eight week period, culminating in an online demo day. The virtual format enabled staff to connect more closely with each team and build vital skills for entrepreneurs to thrive in an ever changing world.

Lucy Bedewi ’20 Wanderlust Wardrobe is a personal style consultant with a pricing model accessible to the average woman. “The workshops allowed us to grow all other aspects of our business while we were out of operations. Additionally, the guest speakers were fantastic, and we’ve made so many connections with both mentors and the cohorts that we’ll cherish and keep into the future. A Message from Lottie Byram, MPH, Venture Programs Manager

I have the sweetest job. Not only do I get to hear students from all walks of life share their entrepreneurial ideas to solve all the world’s problems, but I get to add my own ideas on how best to nurture their ambitions. One example was the launch of Founders Forum, a monthly gathering for alumni and current founders from our highest-tier programs to network, collaborate and share resources. It is a joy to join the Dingman Center Team this year in designing and implementing venture programs.
