dedicated to the battle against ”cyclist’s palsy” The DoctorGel™ system is developed in collaboration with active athletes and doctors. GripGrab gloves with DoctorGel™ are designed to reduce the feeling of pins and needles in the fingers secondary to compression of the nerves innervating the hand. Both mountain bike and road bike riders, regardless of level of experience, may suffer temporarily from nerve compression. A prospective clinical study has shown that 70% of long-distance riders experience symptoms related to nerve compression1. The symptoms can present as light tingling in the fingers but can progress to more severe numbness and paresthesias. The condition is described in the literature as “Cyclist’s palsy” and the problem arises when a nerve to the hand is compressed between the handlebars and the underlying bone.
The most effective way to manage Cyclist’s palsy is to take steps to prevent its occurrence. All riders going for a long bicycle ride should wear adequately padded cycling gloves. The placement of the shock absorbing DoctorGel™ pads is optimized to reduce the risk of nerve compression. We sUPPorT yoUr local Heroes! GripGrab supports the super athletes and all those with a true passion for sport. They might be volunteer coaches in the local community, those with a niche sport, of those doing their sport against all odds. Have you got someone in mind? If not, meet Danny Sørensen, passionate BMX and Downhill rider. Danny is Danish and was born in 1989. He began BMX riding in his early teens and is now one of Denmark’s most talented riders. In 2005, Danny discovered Downhill riding, a sport that has become his life, despite the drawback of Denmark having no mountains. This didn’t deter Danny: in 2010 he moved to Malaga in Spain. There you will find him perfecting his Downhill skills or working for Switch-backsdh.com as Downhill guide helping visitors navigate across the terrain. Danny has achieved a lot, but he still remembers the thrill of BMX riding in his teenage years. That memory took him into the Arctic Circle, to Sisimiut in Greenland. In the summer of 2011, Danny helped build a BMX track for the town’s youngsters. GripGrab isn’t supporting Danny because he has the potential to become a world champion; we’re supporting him because we believe he is the type of person whose passion deserves support. Danny is fuelled by his passion and it’s his passion that gives him the strength to support others. We’d like to help him with that.
