remember A night to

On Saturday 7 December, the Diocesan 2019 Graduation Ball was held at the Pullman Hotel in central Auckland.

Beautifully decorated with giant balloons, seed lights and flowers, the Princes Ballroom was again the backdrop for the Year 13 leavers’ final school event. The 127 graduates were joined by their families for this memorable evening, with Dio science teacher Kit Bushell doing an excellent job as new MC for the night.

Old Girls’ League President Jenny Spillane welcomed everyone and thanked Year 13 Dean Lynn Tonking for looking after the girls so well throughout their time at Dio. Principal Heather McRae presented each graduate with a scroll and an Old Girls’ badge, as Margaret van Meeuwen, Simon Walker and Dian Fisher took turns to invite each graduate onto the stage in alphabetical order. Ella Carter, the Diocesan Events Prefect arranged a photo compilation of the girls over their school years and this was displayed on a video screen. The graduates then took to the dance floor with their chosen partner and danced to Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House. The official band, the Velvet Tones, then had everyone up and dancing to a very popular playlist.

Diocesan Old Girls’ League Committee members Emma Cleary and Tania Fairgray again did a fantastic job leading the Grad Ball organising team. Thanks to Gino Demeer from Cactus Photography for capturing the girls and their families on this special night.
