Tortilla Mall Cribbs Causeway,

If you ever find yourself wondering around the Mall Cribbs Causeway, shopping for lights as I did one Friday evening. Then you’ll want to eat something to keep up your energy levels and stop you potentially going insane with boredom or murdering your other half for making you do it in the first place. Well fear not because in the Mall there is an abundance of food venues to choose from. My favourite however is ‘Tortilla’. A Californian take on a Mexican classic, the Taco.

Serving up delicious morsels of fresh and tasty bites of Californian sunshine. Their menu is quite extensive, offering dishes such as nachos, burritos, tacos and salads. It’s been there a little while so things must be going well? Despite the Covid situation it has held on to the tassels of its sombrero like a Mexican bandit holding on to a money train!

Walking in, the instant impression you get is that this place is the Subway Sandwiches of the Taco world. It’s long deli style counter bulging with different taco and burrito fillings. We where greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the guy behind the counter who took our order. I had the trio of tacos with pulled pork, cheese, salsa, guacamole and sour cream. The ball and chain had the Burrito with rice, beans, cheese and salsa. The place was virtually empty with no atmosphere. A real shame as it has great potential to be a really fun place to go with friends.

Tacos are messy things to eat. You just have to grab them and get on with it. That’s what I did. Like an excited toddler in a high chair I tucked in and enjoyed every bite they were delicious. The flavours worked, they where fresh and vibrant and very moorish. All three demolished in quick succession. According to my shadow the burrito was good too. All in all this is a great little place. Good food, friendly service and quick on delivery. The only thing that lets it down is the atmosphere. Get that sorted and they’ve cracked it.
