Striking new visuals revealed of Wapping Wharf's CARGO Work as construction gets underway
New visuals have been revealed as works get underway to create CARGO Work, a stand-out, unique Grade A workspace that will form part of Wapping Wharf's much-loved community.

With space for up to 230 people across 20,270 sq ft of space, the striking new CARGO Work building will be set within the stone walls of the disused J S Fry warehouse, which were formerly part of the old Bristol Gaol. Wapping Wharf is already home to an array of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and lifestyle businesses on Bristol's iconic harbourside, with this established and growing neighbourhood widely recognised for its eclectic food scene. Preparatory works have already taken place on site with main construction works on the shell and core of the building now underway. The creation of the steel frame will follow in September.

CARGO Work has been designed to be highly sustainable and low in energy use. Brise soleils prevent heat gain inside the building and photovoltaic roof panels take advantage of the building's sunny position to create solar energy.
Offering stylish, contemporary new offices, CARGO Work will reflect its industrial dockside setting with its design in keeping with CARGO, the highly popular shipping container concept that houses many of the independent businesses at Wapping Wharf. Sustainably clad in upcycled shipping container components, CARGO Work will feature a glazed courtyard canopy, balconies and terraces to all floors with views across southern Bristol.

It will include 47 secure bicycle racks and 7 parking spaces, as well as EV charging provision.
The organisation or organisations which take the space at CARGO Work will have the opportunity to work with the developer to fit out and finish according to their own creative vision, resulting in a bespoke, tailored working environment.
Lambourn Commercial and Carter Jonas are the joint agents marketing CARGO Work. CARGO Work is designed by the award-winning architects behind phase one and two of Wapping Wharf, Alec French Architects, and is being constructed by award-winning and specialist contractor Halsall.

The creation of CARGO Work will represent the return of this long-derelict former warehouse site to commercial use. Set on the corner of Wapping Road and Cumberland Road, near the Louisiana Pub, the site has stood empty for many years.
Wapping Wharf is widely acknowledged as one of Bristol's most exciting new neighbourhoods, with around 450 homes set alongside a vibrant community of independent businesses, which have put the quarter on the map as one of the city's go-to food destinations.

Ingredients Method

1 orange or red pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
1 red onion
100g cherry tomatoes (about 12)
2 garlic cloves
80g Penne pasta
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp chopped capers
1 tbsp grated parmesan wedge
1 tbsp chopped parsley and extra parmesan Put 1 orange or red pepper, sliced, in a large nonstick frying pan with 2 tbsp Co-op olive oil and cover Cook gently for 15 mins, shaking the pan occasionally Stir in 1 red onion, sliced, 100g Co-op cherry tomatoes (about 12), halved, and 2 garlic cloves, crushed; cover again Stir now and then while cooking 80g Co-op penne pasta according to the pack instructions Drain, reserving a mug full of the water Stir 1 tbsp Co-op red wine vinegar and 1 tbsp chopped capers into the pepper pan, increase the heat and cook for 1 min, lid off Stir in 1 tbsp grated Co-op parmesan wedge and a little cooking water Toss the pasta and sauce together
Sprinkle with 1 tbsp chopped Co-op parsley and extra parmesan to serve

Ingredients
tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 red onion, finely chopped 4 garlic cloves, 3 sliced, 1 crushed 1 aubergine, diced 1 courgette, diced 1 red pepper, diced ½ x 25g pack flat leaf parsley, chopped 2 tsp dried thyme 400g Italian chopped tomatoes 1 tbsp drained jarred capers, plus 1 tbsp liquid from the jar 1 British savoy cabbage, 8 large outer leaves only, trimmed Basmati rice, to serve (optional)
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/Gas 6 2. Heat the oil in a pan, then add the onion and sliced garlic 3. Fry, covered, for 8-10 mins, stirring occasionally, until softened 4. Add the aubergine, courgette, pepper and parsley, plus 1 tsp of the thyme, and cook for 1015 mins more, until the veg softens 5. Stir through half the tomatoes, season, then spoon into a bowl and leave to one side
