£360,000 funding for sports facilities and open spaces improvements

Sports facilities and public open spaces in South Gloucestershire will be benefitting from almost £360,000 of new facilities and improvements thanks to developer funding secured by South Gloucestershire Council.

The funding has been secured as Section 106 (S106) developer contributions from the developments at Land North of Wotton Road in Charfield and Land Adjacent to Oakfield House in Rangeworthy and the recipients are listed below:

• Charfield Junior Football Club will receive £144,041.39 to fund the construction of changing facilities at

Moreton Ground, Tortworth (S106 funding is dependent on the project receiving planning consent). Cabinet Member for Communities and Local Place Cllr Rachael Hunt said online: “I am delighted that South Gloucestershire Council has been able to secure this developer funding and continue our investment in supporting local sports clubs and helping to improve our public open spaces. These new facilities and improvements will enable even more people in the area to get active and access some of the open spaces and nature we have on our doorstep.

• Charfield Village Hall and Playing Fields charity will receive £144,041.39 for the construction of an extension to their existing clubhouse at Charfield Memorial

Hall and Playing Field, Charfield (S106 funding is dependent on the project receiving planning consent). • Rangeworthy Parish Council will receive a total of £26,329.96 to fund the construction of a multi-use games area sports wall at Rangeworthy Recreation

Ground.

• Rangeworthy Parish Council will also receive £24,484.08 to fund accessibility improvements and £17,004.01 to fund woodland enhancements at Rangeworthy Community

South Gloucestershire Council has an ongoing programme of grant applications to enhance the quality of green spaces. Funding has been provided by various bodies such as developers, National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), and People’s Postcode Lottery, among other external sources. The Council has successfully delivered more than £12 million of improvements to parks and open spaces over the last six years.
