Work has been forging ahead at Blackberry Park since construction resumed following measures taken in response to the coronavirus pandemic, with the first houses now ready for occupation. The 5-star housebuilder has seen a huge upswing in interest since lockdown restrictions were eased.
The number of people registering their interest in a Barratt or David Wilson development in the South West went up by 82% last month on the same period last year.
Blackberry Park is surrounded by beautiful countryside views and lots of open space, with 204 two, three and four-bedroom homes being built as part of this new community. It's ideally located for commuters to Bristol who are keen to make the most of village life and the great outdoors, with residents even given the opportunity to have their own allotment. 30
The neighbouring village of Frampton Cotterell is home to the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding' Watermore Primary School, a Co-op and a range of traditional pubs, bars and restaurants.
As part of the development project, Barratt Homes is making a contribution worth £739,000 in total towards wider community improvements including outdoor sports facilities, allotments and recreational open space, as well as highways improvements such as investment in a new cycle path.
Teacher Abbie Evans aged 24 and her partner Jed Sheppard, also 24, will be among the first residents to move into Blackberry Park. They've secured a three-bedroom home using the Government's Help to Buy scheme. The move marks a return to her family routes by returning to the village where both her mum and grandmother grew up.
"My nan lived in Coalpit Heath, and my mum grew up here - so I have lots of fond memories of my childhood locally," explains Abbie. "It seems like a lovely area to live in. It's not too busy and is quite villagey but we still have access to lots of things and good links to Bristol city centre."
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Bristol, which covers the wider Bristol area, says: "It is fantastic to see Blackberry Park reaching such an important milestone with new residents moving into their new homes. We've had huge interest in the development, particularly from commuters to Bristol and families keen to make the most of the beautiful countryside on Coalpit Heath's doorstep.
"With the Government having recently announced a stamp duty holiday for homes up to £500,000, and our own initiatives such as part-exchange and our NHS and Armed Forces deposit contribution schemes on offer, there's lots of different routes open to people so they can snap up their dream home." The show homes and sales centre will be open by appointment only. A range of safety measures and new working procedures will be in place in the sales office including protective perspex screens, retractable barriers, strict social distancing and, where necessary, personal protective equipment (PPE), plus smart video- doorbell intercom systems to enable customers to engage with sales teams before entering offices.
NHS workers and members of the armed forces are offered a 5% contribution, up to £15,000, on a new home at Blackberry Park under Barratt's NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme and Armed Forces Deposit Contribution Scheme. Barratt Homes' part-exchange scheme allows buyers to part exchange their current home for a new one.
The M32 and Yate railway station are under 4 miles away from Blackberry Park, offering easy access to Bristol city centre. For those who need to travel further afield, the M4 and M5 can be reached within 15 minutes.
