RGM Supercharged Toyota FJ CRUISER 4.0lt V6 330kW - 550Nm With RGM’s major success in bolt-on supercharging the 4.0 - litre V6 Toyota Hilux, Fortuner, 79 Land Cruiser pick-up as well as the Dual VVTI Prado it was a matter of time before we would complete the big five by adding in the FJ Cruiser. As RGM understands the market for having vehicles with increased torque and naturally increasing in the kW, our Supercharge conversion would be a perfect option for this , what many would say is under powered, although fitted with a 200 kW, D-VVTi 4.0 - litre engine. Our in-house design division utilizing sophisticated CAD design programmes came up with a design which places the emphasis on durability, reliability and presentation. The net result is a conversion that is not only exceptionally pleasing to the eye but also delivers in it expectations of increasing torque and horsepower substantially. RGM once again utilized the exceptionally reliable Vortech centrifugal V2 SI-trim supercharger. This unit is also renowned for it’s quiet working operation. It is high pressure oil fed for lubrication and cooling and runs a gravitational oil return to the sump. Our state-of-the-art, highly-efficient RGM liquid charge cooling system was designed to ensure lower boost temperatures, less pressure drop across the cooler and a compact and tightly nested water reservoir which reduces plumbing of water pipes. Fewer components are required, resulting in an easier and quicker installation. In extensive testing we have reduced boost air temperatures by up to 60 degrees Celsius. An advantage in our installation is that we utilize a high quality Setrab cooler that mounts on the front of the vehicle and does not impede the normal airflow across the radiator. The cooler is also fitted with it’s own 8 inch (200mm) electric fan, adding to improved air flow to the radiator. This also assists in a more effective charge cooling in low speed conditions. The RGM liquid chargecooling system is completely isolated from the vehicles cooling system and has it’s own electric water pump for circulation.

RGM Supercharged Toyota FJ CRUISER 4.0lt V6 330kW - 550Nm As the Vortech supercharger unit is permanently engaged, the use of the RGM-Excell high flow dump valve (recirculation valve) has been employed to eliminate any surging under light throttle and coasting conditions. This supercharger develops a maximum of 0.5 bar boost (7 pounds). The carbon fiber air intake housing where the high flow serviceable performance air filter is situated is mounted to the main supercharger bracket and moves around freely as the engine moves. This installation is totally bolt-on. The engine is not opened or tampered with in any way and no body panels are modified to suit the installation, which makes this conversion totally reversibly. Engine electronics both ignition timing and fuel are remapped to suit the additional air supply by means of a unichip Q plus. The same unichip is used to remove the road speed governor on request.
