I’M A CELEBRITY
Get Me Out of Here – BUT WE CHOSE TO GO!
FOR YEARS WE HAVE WATCHED ANT & DEC IN THE AUSTRALIAN JUNGLE AS THEY PRESENTED I’M A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS ITV RECENTLY ANNOUNCED THE FORTHCOMING SERIES WILL HAVE A NEW LOCATION, GWRYCH CASTLE IN NORTH WALES
F
rom a distance it looks a very errie location, so the celebrities will be in for a few surprises and may not have signed up for the show if they knew the venue in advance. By contrast, Disabled Living chose Gwrych Castle as a venue to highlight the work we had been doing on our own heritage project from ‘Donkey’s to Innovators’ which, in 2017 celebrated 120 years of Disabled Living’s history. Disabled Living as a charity were very active in the North Wales area from the 1950’s through
to the early 1980’s. Children who had stayed at our holiday homes talked about the castle on the hill, which at the time was not in the disrepair it is in today, they had fantasies about princesses, princes, knights on horses and all the other splendour associated with a fairy-tale castle. We certainly didn’t want to get ‘out of there’, we wanted to be in there! While we were visiting the Castle, we bumped into a celebrity who was larger than life, Lou Ferrigno who played The Incredible Hulk.
