WELCOME THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
THE SHED COFFEE @THESHEDCOFFEE | 99 POWNAL ST & 97 QUEEN ST

The Shed is a specialty coffee roastery that provides unique coffee and local treats. Awarded as Canada’s Best Roastery by Reader’s Digest in 2022, they strive to add a little extra love into each cup they make and help to tell the stories behind the beans they use. Building on the success of their established Pownal Street location, The Shed recently opened a second café within the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre. With the new location, they have the chance to offer the wider community another way of gathering and enjoying high quality coffee in a comfortable, modern, and inspiring environment.
“It’s fun to play around with your senses to create interesting roasting and brewing profiles. I love being able to be my true self and do what I love under the support from our local communities.” –
Hai Nguyen, Owner & Head Roaster
OLLIE'S @OLLIESPEI | 6 PRINCE ST | FOUNDERS' HALL
Ollie’s is a brand new restaurant that opened in the winter of 2023 in Founders’ Food Hall & Market. Brought to you by the brains and hearts behind Nimrods’ Pizza Bar on The Floating Dock, Nigel Haan & Jesse Clausheide, this new endeavor will feature from-scratch sandwiches (made with freshly baked bread), New York-style pizza, and local seafood. Nestled among the many other great businesses in this urban market on the waterfront, Ollie’s is a welcome addition to the growing culinary scene in Charlottetown.
“The team around us and the support of the community are what has allowed us to do the things we're passionate about. We cannot thank everyone enough for the continued support. We're going to do our best to repay their taste buds.” – Jesse Clausheide, Co-Owner & Head Chef
Ponyboat Social Club
@PONYBOAT.SOCIALCLUB | 157 KENT ST
The newest kid to join Charlottetown’s entertainment district on Kent Street is the PonyBoat Social Club located in the former Dooly’s space. Inspired by retro arcades, fast food joints, old NY pizzerias, and bodegas, this renovated space now features 12,000 square feet of games, activities, casual food, local beer, and craft cocktails. It's the first of its kind on PEI and fun for all ages. In fact, PonyBoat, by definition, means 'to engage in a sport or pursuit as a pastime rather than a profession'. It's all about not taking yourself too seriously, bringing out your inner kid, and embracing nostalgia.
“We're so happy to be able to offer a space where locals and visitors can enjoy fun activities, great food, and creative drinks all in the same space. It's really versatile in that it's the perfect space for date nights, gathering with a group of friends, or hosting a special event.” – TJ
Kelly, General Manager
Sea Rocket Oyster House
@SEA_ROCKET_OYSTERS | 110 QUEEN ST
The stars aligned in late summer 2022 for Sea Rocket to come to life in beautiful adjoining heritage buildings on the corner of Victoria Row and Queen St. After extensive renovations to the two spaces, it is now home to one of Charlottetown’s most stylish and tasty restaurants. Inspired by the desire to show off the island’s farmers and fishers, local ingredients are the stars of their menu’s show. Of course, being an Oyster House also means they offer an extensive variety of oysters.
“Victoria Row is so vibrant and we feel right at home being a part of this energy. Regardless of the season, “the Row” is the epicentre of locals and visitors enjoying themselves. We are honoured to be in the heart of this experience and are proud of our fisher-to-table menu and Island hospitality.” – Richard Court, Co-Owner
JC'S TIKI BAR
@JC_TIKIBAR
| 1 GREAT GEORGE ST
After opening in the spring of 2022 on the Floating Dock at Peake’s Wharf, JC’s Tiki Bar has quickly taken Charlottetown’s seasonal restaurant scene by storm. Inspired by the owner’s travels around the world and named after a friend who he served with in the Armed Forces, JC’s is his own version of a “hole in the wall”. Featuring Mexican tacos, incredible margaritas, hanging swings, and a tropical vibe that puts everyone in a good mood, it’s impossible to visit this dockside eatery and not feel relaxed.
“The best part about running a bar on the water is that every time someone sits at my bar, whether it’s their day off or vacation, I get to make sure it’s their best. The hardest part of the job is not being able to join each of them on the other side of the bar top!” – Jordan Docherty, Owner
DATCHA
@DATCHA.CA
| 6 PRINCE ST | FOUNDERS' HALL
Located among the many unique local vendors in the beautiful space of Founders’ Food Hall & Market, Datcha is a new Caribbean restaurant named after one of the most famous beaches on Guadeloupe Island. The inspiration for their food is drawn from the street food—“bokits”— which are found throughout the island. They have taken their own classic recipes and modernized them by making the bread fresh to order and serving them with the best local ingredients.
“I try to give each visitor a taste of my island. We are very social in our food culture and get to know each other through food. Food is meant to bring people together and with my open kitchen, the customers can smell the wonderful flavour. I also love speaking to many people and exposing them to new food while they watch me cook. Every day is a cooking show!” – Valéry Ladrezeau, Owner & Head Chef
