CHRISTINE DOVEY'S Fav Spaces in the City
CONFEDERATION CENTRE NATIONAL ART GALLERY
145 RICHMOND ST - I was lucky enough to preview the current exhibits recently and was absolutely blown away by the beauty of the modern space itself, as well as the stunning gallery of artwork showcased over three levels.

THE GALLERY COFFEE HOUSE & BISTRO 82 GREAT GEORGE ST - When delicious food and coffee are served in a historic space that's been updated in the most beautiful way, complete with exposed brick walls, high tin ceilings and art-covered walls, it's the best.
SLAYMAKER & NICHOLS GASTRO HOUSE 82 FITZROY ST - I'm a huge fan of whimsical design, especially when it's combined with beautiful century details, modern luxury, and heavenly food. Slaymaker & Nichols is a perfect blend of all of the above. The inn upstairs is also stunning—it has character and charm for days.
THE GREAT GEORGE HOTEL 58 GREAT GEORGE ST - An inn made up of a city block of brightly coloured heritage buildings and homes in the heart of the city. It’s filled with a blend of antiques and modern touches… it’s so delightful.
LEONHARD'S CAFÉ 142 GREAT GEORGE ST - This space is so cozy and charming, and is the happiest spot to enjoy a delicious lunch. Don’t miss their vanilla rolls and mimosas! Favourite design elements here include the wallpapered bathrooms with transom windows above the doors and a main counter that features a brown paper roll to display the daily specials, crystal chandeliers, hanging dried flowers, and letterboard menus.
TOSH CO. HOME STORE 53 THOMPSON DR - This new design and decor store is packed full of the most beautiful curated selection of new home goods and vintage rugs. Every single item in this impeccablydesigned shop located in “uptown” Charlottetown is a stunner.
THE HAVILAND CLUB 2 HAVILAND ST - I adore large historic homes that have been restored into beautiful venues and social spaces. The Haviland is just so charming and luxe. It’s a beautiful spot to host a special event.
RECEIVER COFFEE CO. 178 WATER ST - The Brass Shop Roastery and Breadworks building itself sits on Charlottetown's waterfront, with stunning stonework, the cutest gables, arched black windows, & lots of historic charm. The interior features a large open space with a soaring vaulted ceiling, giant wood beams, buckets of natural light, pretty rounded windows, and a great juxtaposition between the original features and modern design elements.
