Anyone passing through ECR is bound to stop and take in the magnificence that Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa exudes!! With the exterior layout stretched out like rectangular glass cases, each having its own style and elegance, the resort entices you to take a peek of what it has to offer in terms of comfort, ambiance and of course, cuisine. That’s why their open air restaurant C Salt, that sits comfortably just 20 yards away from the fine beach and amazing blue waters, is much sought after by the discerning Chennaiites. The entire dining space is set up in the midst of gardens, shacks and cobble stone walls. The warm, tropical lightings accentuate the pathways lending a romantic appeal to the set up.

With the restaurant specialising in South Indian and Goan influenced seafood cuisine, the appetizers were true to its name and lineage. The Spicy King Mackerel is just an utter delight! The fish is fresh, soft and flavoured with moreish spices. The pieces of white fish almost dissolves in the mouth and activates your taste buds leading to a drool. Incredibly delicious!! Even the Lime Cilantro Prawns is refreshingly tarty. The tangy flavour of lime on prawns sets off a beautiful concert on the palate with the crescendo peaking simultaneously with the crunch of the shrimp tails and the crash of the waves nearby.

The Jalapeno Roast Chicken and Coorg Pan Fried Chicken breaks the monotony and stands apart in terms of texture and flavour. Each of these bite sized starters are perfect accompaniments to the CSalt Reju-

venator & Lemon Ginger Spritzer Mocktails. The Goan Sweet Potato Hash Chop with its spice coat is interesting in the details. The smoky flavour of the Charred Grilled Broccoli is truly appetising and the creamy texture only nudges the taste quotient. Who would have thought that the humble broccoli could have such a makeover!

The Raw Mango Coconut Prawn Curry & the Red Sorrel Leaf Lamb Curry comes in generous portions and goes well the Egg Appams and Kal Dosas. The sourness of mango and sorrel leaf blends well with the mellow blandness of the assorted breads. Also, the flaky and light Malabar Parathas are apt partners for the masala rich NH38 Chicken Curry.

For desserts, there is always room for the Sour Cream Chocolate Slice with its silky and decadent texture that simply slides down the throat and makes for an ideal end to all of the evening’s excitement.
