Whittlesey Remembers

WHITTLESEY AND THE VILLAGES Remember

Prior to Remembrance Sunday, The Mayor of Whittlesey Cllr David Mason led the way by paying respect to the fallen by laying wreaths on behalf of His Honour Neil McKittrick, the Queen’s representative, and Whittlesey Town Council at Whittlesey, Coates and Eastrea. Cllr Alex Miscandlon also laid wreaths in Whittlesey on behalf of Stephen Barclay MP and Fenland District Council while at Turves Cllr Bob Wicks represented the Mayor in laying a wreath. On Remembrance Day itself the Chairman of the Royal British Legion Pauline Edge flanked by two standard bearers laid a wreath on behalf of the Royal British Legion at an informal event at the War Memorial in Whittlesey. Community radio station Fenland Youth Radio produced a two-hour special ‘Whittlesey Remembers’ programme with dedications to, and from, the care homes in the town, culminating with a prerecorded Service of Remembrance which paid a fine tribute to those who had fought and died.
