The Southern States Llama Association published this magazine specifically for new or soon to be llama and alpaca owners. The purpose is to educate people on the fundamentals of owning these special animals that are not native to the North American continent. They are especially vulnerable to the Southeastern environment. As we say, these are not horses, nor goats, nor sheep, nor cattle. While the needs for maintaining the health and well being of all those species share some common actions, the llamas and alpacas have different ones as well. This is not to discourage anyone from getting these wonderful animals, but to be aware of their needs. Happy reading and wishes for a healthy relationship with these camelids.
