Flex your Work Arrangements (& live like a local)
Time to flex your work arrangements?
If you can work from home, you can work from Port Mac...
Ideally, you won’t have to work while you're holidaying here at all, BUT… if dabbling in a bit of work here and there means you can stay a little longer, we’ll allow it! Many of our holiday stays, town centres and libraries have free Wi-Fi, and most of our cafes and bars make for a comfortable ‘2nd office’ with good connectivity, great coffee and friendly service. And if you need an office environment, you can always make a booking at one of our coworking spaces. Click on the QR below for info.
WORK-CATION PROFILE: ELISA
Elisa and her family have been holidaying in Port for years. During COVID, she moved to hybrid working arrangements, and started spending more time here, choosing to work and holiday with her hubby Mike (also able to work remotely) their two kids aged 12 & 15 and doggo Ginny.
ELISA’S HOT TIPS FOR BALANCING WORK AND PLAY IN PORT MAC:
1. Start your mornings outside! The sunrises here are magic, especially along the Coastal Walk.
2. Have a bit of a plan for your day/week. Block out work time, and stick to it.
3. Pre-book activities to keep the kids happy. My kids love Wildnets, Stoney Aqua Park, Jollynose MTB Park, The Seed Creative Workshops and the Surf School. If I need to juggle kids and work, I’ll set up on Town Green, while the kids fish off the wharf or go for a skate. There’s also ice cream nearby so everyone’s winning!
4. Find a couple of locations where you like to work. My fave ‘2nd office’ locations are Bandwagon Cafe, Zebu, Rivermark, Sails, Holy Goat Coffee, Peak Coffee, and Chop n Chill.
5. Try a co-working space! If you need office facilities, book a desk at CoLab in Sovereign Hills, or Nucleus in the waterside town of Laurieton. If you’re planning on working here longer, you can subscribe to the high spec Innovation Hub at Charles Sturt University.
6. Meet the locals – I’ve met some great people through yoga and co-working, and Mike meets with the Sunrise Swimmers at Town Beach, and Park Run (if he’s feeling really energetic).
7. Reward yourself! We’ve got a few ‘go-to’ places (the list is getting longer by the minute): Whalebone Wharf, Bills Fishhouse, Botanic Wine Garden, and Bar Florian never disappoint.
