When: July 2, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Where: Mort Glosser Amphitheater, 90 Walnut Street, Gadsden Why: Summer series of live music; cushions and coolers welcome.

Operation Dry Water, by U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies Who:

What: Operation Dry Water, a national weekend of boating under the influence awareness and enforcement aimed at reducing the number of alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities on recreational waters. When: July 2-4 Where: Logan Martin Lake, Neely Henry Lake, other lake and coastal towns Why: To foster a stronger and more visible deterrent to alcohol and drug use on the water. In 2010, marine law enforcement organizations from all 50 states participated and contacted more than 66,000 boaters and issued 11,693 warnings and citations.

Alabama Cycling Criteriums at Piedmont and Anniston Who:

What: Alabama Cycling Classic race weekend combining the longstanding Sunny King Criterium paired with the Piedmont Criterium for two full days of racing. When: July 3 and 4 Where: In conjunction with the Noble Street Festival in Anniston on July 3 and downtown Piedmont on July 4 Why: Benefitting Relay for Life of Calhoun County and Meals on Wheels.

Who: Egypt and Animals What: Egypt and Animals Live Animal Presentations at Anniston Museum of Natural History When: July 9, 2 p.m. Where: Anniston Museum of Natural History, 800 Museum Avenue, Anniston Why: Explore the mysteries of ancient Egyptian religion alongside museum animal ambassadors and get a peek at some artifacts not usually on display.

What: 2021 Spotlight Summer Drama Camp for students ages 6 to 17 plus Master Acting Class for ages 12 to 17. What: Second Saturdays, free event with music, vendors, food trucks and corn hole competitions When: July 10, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Where: Talladega’s historic square downtown Why: Spotlighting local music talent, foods and community fun.

Who: Arts Camps at Heritage Hall Museum What: 2021 Arts Camps, arts classes, music, dance, theater, pottery and other fine art instruction; on the last day, July 16 and July 30, parents and family members are treated to a performance held at the Historic Ritz Theatre on the Talladega Square. When: July 12-16 and July 26-30, from 8 a.m. to noon Where: Heritage Hall Museum, 200 South Street East, Talladega, 35160, which offers tuition discount to households with more than one child attending, $100 for first, and $80 each for additional child. Why: Promoting knowledge and appreciation of the arts.
