Futures 2024 will showcase the diverse range of fundamental, translational and clinical research in CoMH that is central to UCC Futures and to the Academic Health Sciences in the South West region

Interreg North-West Europe Call 5 Now Open
The Interreg NEW Europe Programme co-funds projects fostering transnational cooperation among partners with a joint approach to tackling common issues and contributing to policy development. The NWE Programme co-finances up to 60% of a project budget, with 40% of project costs covered by partners. Call 5 focuses on: Climate and Environment; Energy Transition; Circular Economy; Innovation and Resilience; Inclusive Society. It follows a twostep process. Horizon Europe: Cluster 3 Civil Security for Society
There are 22 open calls for Horizon Europe Cluster 3 consortia-led projects in the areas of Increased Cybersecurity, Fighting Crime and Terrorism, Border Management, Disaster Resilient Society, and Resilient Infrastructure. Horizon Europe: Mission: Cancer
Enterprise Ireland Coordinator Support Grant Deadlines
For anyone wishing to coordinate any of the 6 new Cancer Mission Calls that launched recently (deadlines 18 Sept), applications to Enterprise Ireland for the Coordinator Support grant must be submitted internally to UCC Research by 9 July. Enterprise Ireland Coordinator Support Grant Deadlines
Enterprise Ireland offers up to €16,000 for applicants to the ERC Consolidator call to develop their proposals through their dedicated ERC Proposal Preparation Support Grant. ERC CoG applicants must submit their EI application internally to UCC by 14 July 2024, ahead of EI deadline 15 July 2024. (The ERC Consolidator Call deadline is 14 January 2025). COST Actions. 60 new Cost Actions have been announced for 2024. Ireland can nominate two individuals to the management committee (MC) of each and nominations from interested parties are now being accepted. Interested individuals must complete and sign the Request to Join the Management Committee (MC) of a COST Action Form and return it to fiona.riordan@ucc.ie. All 60 Actions and the form can be found on the Funding Opportunities Page of the CoMH Research Funding SharePoint under ‘EU Calls - COST Actions’. You are also free to make an application to join a working group of the new Actions directly via the relevant webpage. Joining a COST Action is one of the easiest ways in which you can build up your European research network and works with experts in any field. Researchers at any career stage may request to join. The work of Actions often informs future calls for R&I funding.

Call for external experts for the SCHEER WG on risks for the health associated to the use of brain stimulators. The European Commission has requested the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) for a scientific opinion on risks for the health associated to the use of brain stimulators not having an intended medical purpose described in the group 6 of Annex XVI to Regulation (EU) 2017/745
Those with proven expertise (either by research publications in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journals or by regulatory activity) in the following areas are needed:
• External brain stimulation by electric, magnetic or electromagnetic fields (medical or non-medical applications)
• Neuro ethics
• Neurologist with experience in the application of non-invasive (external) brain stimulation techniques

Call for Experts: Be a Speaker at CIRCLES final conference. The CIRCLES project aims to provide the scientific knowledge to exploit natural microbiomes for the sustainable production of high-quality food, with the ultimate objective to deliver new and healthier food applications. CIRCLES has explored microbiome interactions and circulations across 6 food chains.
The final conference of the CIRCLES project will be held in Brussels, 17 Sept. 2024. The project Team are seeking experts to participate in the panel Discussion on "Resistome dispersion from the CIRCLES food chains to the environment" with an intervention on food safety and potential risks in the resistome dynamics.

EU-PROMENS is an EU4Health-funded programme to enhance and improve the capacity of health professionals across Europe through European Exchange Programmes
Participants from different professional profiles and experience levels will be selected in order to foster peer-topeer learning and multi-disciplinary collaboration. They will take part in a two-week programme with study visits to service providers, workshops and job-shadowing around distinct technical themes. All travel, accommodation, and board expenses are covered by the project
