Jayanagar was among the first few well-planned sectors of Bangalore. The entire area of Jayanagar is divided into10 blocks.
The very essence of the area is the residences and the peripheral commercial fringe. The area was initially planned focusing on residences, but over the years, the commercial activities have heightened and have created this self sufficient layout.
THE SOCIAL PLACE Scaling up from the basics of how four walls make a person feel, understanding how a building affects a locality and at whole creates its significance in the urban context. The studio project delt with Jayanagar 2nd block , Bangalore area which is growing as passing day. Understanding the context and the need of a structure to provide better facilities was the main aim. Studies were made based on the history, morphology, circulation, infrastructure, urban landscapes and public realm. A conclusion was derived based on the needs and interventions and a project was developed where the public’s interests were looked into.
The site catered to different user groups :
Massing & Zoning The site is divided into half in order to provide urban places for the public. This also lets the open spaces shaded well during the afternoons and evenings. As a person enters the site he is welcomes to different public spaces to explore. The semiprivate and private spaces are limited to upper floors so as to maintain privacy.
Play of levels was integrated in order separate spaces from each other.
The ground floor, first floor and second floor houses the most public spaces, i.e., the food courts, community halls and retails shops. The third floor hold semi private spaces like performance theatre and banquet hall. The fourth and fifth floor house the co-working space, it having only restricted access
Dress-up well and party hard is what one seeks in outdoors today. The bar and restaurant is designed based on the industrial warehouse, which was one of the most important change in the lifestyle of humans. The clothing style was also a major change that led to a revolution within itself. These two important things (work and clothing) has been emphasized into the restaurant to re-create the fun part of living.
BarE HOUSE The Interior studio project was based on designing a bar and restaurant along with a boutique facility.
Section-1
The program and the site was given by the faculty. The process of designing the interiors began with selecting of a theme that would suit both the restaurant & the boutique. Section- 2
Based on this theme a concept had be derived for the spaces. Designing this project brought in the detailing required for spaces on the interiors.

Dasavara is 13KM away from the district headquarters towards west and 14KM from Channapatna. It is 61KM from Bangalore on Bangalore-Mysore highway. This place is on the border of Ramnagara district and Mandya district.
The site has a close proximity to the village. Agriculture, sericulture, cattle rearing being the major activities, provision of a training centre, sericulture rearing house and dairy farming can help build the society.
UP SCHOOL Education is everyone’s right. it becomes important and a duty to see that every child in the nation is available to means of education to make a brighter future. But over the years education has become a privilege and very few have the access to it. Though there are many reasons for not being able to go to school, one of them is infrastructure. The schools provided by the government usually lack proper infrastructure and do not expand over time for more students to enroll hence leads to unhygienic conditions. The studio project focuses on campus design of a government school that not only focuses on basic education but enhances the economy of the village by various means.
AIM: A community space to accommodate the village for larger activities. School spaces that can be used after school hours for night school or festivals. Playgrounds to encourage children to use it even after school hours.
The site is zoned w.r.t to public, semi public and private space. The most public areas are restricted to the closer end of the village and school is situated in the southern area so that the school premises is not disturbed by the in and out of the villagers.
SECTION The classrooms are divided into smaller clusters where a particular age group learns together. The windows provided are pivotal where students can sit on the sill creating their own comfort of studying. Southern walls are replaced by bamboo screens in order to provide ventilation and also to block the harsh sunlight. The double roof again facilitate ventilation. The walls are made up of rammed earth blocks. These features facilitates lesser use of electricity and provides comfortable environment. PLAN
SECTION
The dining hall / multi-purpose hall has a central courtyard where the kids have their lunch in the shaded areas. The students sit on the floor in a row along the edges and are served food. The central courtyard becomes a mini play area after their lunch. The same space turns into a multi-purpose hall where events can take place. The central courtyard holds the events and the roofed area can be used to serve food if needed.
PLAN
Bangalore, India
Located in the central Bangalore, the site gives a good opportunity to develop a housing project as it is close to the CBD and has a good commuting system. A low cost housing facility in the city centre uplifts these groups to attain a standard lifestyle.
A house is a machine said Charles Correa. A machine has primary, secondary and tertiary parts and so does a house. Same principle was applied from the site level to the smallest unit house, where a person can experience the levels of hierarchy and intimacy.
AASHRAY
The clusters are fragmented in order to provide private entrances and create niches for people to gather around and pass time.
A housing project located on an abandoned industrial site in the city centre. Once stood the famous Binny Mills, known for its hand-loom production shut down and left many workers unemployed. They spread around the Pette area of central Bangalore yet remained under LIGs. This site hubs on providing housing for this LIG groups who are migrants from different parts of the country.
Private entries are also created to provide privacy and uniqueness.
The primary roads within site is restricted to the edges in order to facilitate pedestrian movement within the site. The secondary roads are the major pedestrian pathways & the tertiary roads the entrances to the clusters.
The character of LIG housing where there is a very fine line between public and semi public is to be maintained due to the community nature of these people.
MASTER PLAN
The privacy levels continues within the units depending on the usability of the space.
Clusters are a mix of different typologies. Arrangement of each cluster is different to create unique identity of each.
Type -1 Unit Area: 20sq.m. HK flat
Type -2 Unit Area: 30sq.m. 1BHK flat
Type -3 Unit Area: 45sq.m. 2BHK flat
Type -4 Unit Area: 60sq.m. 2BHK flat

The old city of Bangalore was planned based on 4 main elements of the city planning - Petta (the dense market area), Thota (the luscious and dense vegetation), Kere (water bodies) and Kota (the Bangalore fort). These 4 elements marked the identity of Bangalore , but as the city has evolved, it is slowly losing the elements and their Importance. The rocky plateau of Bangalore was originally a combination of grassland, scrub and thorn forest with small trees. There is no historical record of the original climate but it was likely to have warm and dry, just like the other districts nearby, like Kolar and Chikballapur , possibly receiving only about 300-400 mm of rain.
