A decade of delivering success within the marketing industry Great ideas are often hatched in the backroom of a pub, and Alliance Creative was no different. Before May 2011, our unique offering simply didn’t exist in Scotland. Perhaps it just required a few draughts of 80 Shilling to crystalise the thought? The idea, or goal, was to give anyone requiring creative services simple and straightforward access to a pool of talent that they would not be able to access in one central place – even in the largest of creative agencies. Talent such as designers, art directors, web developers, copywriters, artworkers, photographers and filmmakers. We aspired to be the place to go for supplying best-in-class creative support directly to clients, as and when required. And all without the overhead of trendy offices, fancy car pools and expensive and timeconsuming layers of bureaucracy. Ten years on, we have changed the misconception that traditional and expensive agencies are a necessary evil by servicing

large clients like Standard Life, Velux, Clydesdale Bank and Virgin Money. And we regularly provide exactly the same level of service for far smaller clients.
Invest in your staff. Look after them both financially and personally. Involve them in business development and make them willing ambassadors
We may have firmly established our position as the agency alternative, but many long hours were spent getting us there. We’d need a larger word count to cover everything we’ve encountered and learned on our journey – but here are a few pointers:
Don’t be afraid of trying out new ideas. Failing is still learning
Passion and determination can change the status-quo if the offering is right Never be embarrassed to ask for advice. We were humbled by how many people were willing to help for nothing (or maybe a beer) Continually seek improvements and embrace client feedback. Especially criticisms
Networking isn’t something to be scared of. Be seen and heard. Be helpful and be yourself Remain confident in your offering. Continually tell your story.
