CHAMBER TO SPONSOR RED PAINT IN ECHO’S PLATINUM COLOUR FEST
Thanks to local charity ECHO, a Fun Run with a difference will be part of the Leominster Festival on Saturday 4 June. The run will start and finish at Halo Bridge Street Sports Centre. Dressed in white, participants will be able to run, jog, walk or dance their way through a series of Paint Stations, so that by the time they reach the finishing line, they’ll all be covered in (fully biodegradable) paint – and broad smiles! The Fun Run is a major fundraising event organised by ECHO, Leominster’s local charity which supports adults with learning and other disabilities across Herefordshire.

The full distance is around 5 km – that’s a little over three miles – but people can choose shorter, easier routes if they prefer. The event is intended for anyone who fancies enjoying a bit of exercise and a good laugh during the Platinum Jubilee Weekend. Mike Cook, Chief Officer of ECHO, explains: “The event is all about having fun with family and friends, giving back to your local community and it’s part of the Leominster Festival too! Since medieval times the image of the lion has been associated with the town – so each participant will be given a pair of lion’s ears and can have a lion face painting.” He added, “We’re delighted that several prominent and generous organisations are sponsoring and taking part in this event.” One of these is the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. Elizabeth Hardman from the Chamber says: “We are all so happy to sponsor a paint station. We’ve chosen the red one as that’s our corporate colour. We can hardly wait to paint the town red! We know what important and special work ECHO does for people with learning and other disabilities, so we’re delighted to have this great opportunity to support them”. Entry fees, which include a pair of lion’s ears, a face painting, neon sunglasses, a professional warm-up and plenty of paint, are £10 per adult, £5 for children (children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult) and £25 for a family of four. The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce is absolutely delighted to share the news that we have been awarded the We invest in people Platinum accreditation.
Platinum is the highest level of accreditation possible to achieve and it’s something only 2% of organisations obtain. It means policies and practices around supporting people are embedded in every corner of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and in a platinum company, everyone – from the CEO to our apprentices – knows they have a part to play in the company doing well, and is always looking for ways to improve. Every single one of our employees is involved in supporting each other and is doing their best to make work better. Our We invest in people assessment was a great opportunity for us to hear from the team and learn about what we’re doing well as an organisation, and what we can do to make it even better. With the feedback our team gave us, we’ve got recommendations and an action plan so that we can keep making changes, keep improving and keep moving forward. We believe that the success of an organisation begins and ends with people. If we make work better for everyone, we make work better for every organisation.
THE CHAMBER’S HEREFORD DROP-IN DAYS ARE BACK!
On the first Wednesday of every month our Herefordshire Membership team will be hosting a drop in event at our Hereford offices in The Shell Store. Our drop-in days give Members the opportunity to discuss business growth, engagement, successes and struggles exploring new ways to best utilise Chamber Membership. This event is also a great way for Non-members to meet our Herefordshire team in an informal setting and allows local businesses to ask questions and share ideas. The purpose of this event is to encourage Herefordshire businesses, both Members and Non-members, to engage with their local Chamber and identify ways in which we can work together to set realistic goals and meet targets. Our Hereford Drop-In Days will be taking place on the first Wednesday of every month, 10:00am-12:00pm, at The Shell Store Hereford.
