Kingfisher School System

Opened during the land run of 1889, the town of Kingfisher sprung from the prairie of Oklahoma Territory and very soon after Kingfisher Public Schools was born. The first graduating class consisted of seven students in 1894. Over the last 130 years, the school district has built new buildings, demolished older ones, and added to existing structures. The district has experienced the highs and lows of economic booms and busts while always striving to educate the children of Kingfisher. Throughout its history, the school district has been a force academically and athletically with a number of academic and athletic state champions. The agricultural program has seen incredible success as well as the band and choir programs. And at the center of all this success was the hard working staff and supportive community.
