Tiger Lily’s is nestled in the Broadway District in Cushing Oklahoma. Jennifer Hixson is a longtime Cushing resident, a sports mom with a love of flowers that has bloomed into a calling. For about 20 years she has been a florist, working for various local florists on and off. Her passion and persistence drove her to dream of her own flower shop where she could create unique and innovative designs. With the support of her fiancé and family, she investigated local resources and had a location in Downtown Cushing in a week.

Jennifer told me that Central Tech Business Center was a wonderful resource for her to create a plan. Connecting with Tracy at the Cushing Chamber helped Jennifer find her feet in her new adventure. Jennifer gushed about the overwhelming support Cushing has given her. Jennifer explained Downtown Cushing has so much to offer. It is the best-kept secret, so many businesses right here in Cushing from a Boutique, Bakery, Antiques and so much more to discover. Jennifer expressed the importance of shopping locally, when you shop locally you are supporting a family, not a corporation.

Jennifer says she loves coming to work and creating custom works of art for her clients. She explained she is still navigating the new routine. Making time for family and setting limits for her work has helped her balance running a successful business and having a life. While she works hard, she says it is important to make time to have a life. It helps keep her creative.

Jennifer’s favorite part of working with flowers is designing something special. She loves to experiment with flower combinations that normally do not go together and creating something unique and special. She said People are always happy to get flowers, so designing something special makes their day special. In this time where we can’t always visit, because we want to keep them safe, we can send flowers to let them know how much we miss and love them. Jennifer’s kindness to her community is an inspiration to others.
