Affirmative Business Solutions (ABS) opened in 2017 in Ashton Johns dining room. Ashton is a Texas transplant who’s love of small-town life led her to settle in Perkins. Perkins has been a dream come true for Ashton to raise her family and grow her business. The Success of ABS has allowed Ashton to partner with other entrepreneurs in creating a local favorite Pistols Coffee House, serving specialty coffees, quick favorite meals, and Blue Bell ice cream. Opening in July Pistols has become a staple in Perkins for young and old alike.

Ashton learned early on that that she had a gift for numbers, working in a restaurant completing cost analysis in high school. Then working at a farm after high school with Barbara Munden throwing QuickBooks at her starting a love of accounting that has led Ashton to become a QuickBooks Pro Advisor, along with multiple degrees. She has invested in her community and customers by spending quality time as the second Vice-President on the Perkins Chamber of Commerce Board and serving as the Treasurer on the Partners in Education Board. Also supporting the Perkins-Tryon schools with P-T Youth Wrestling Program, Grover Rains Takedown Club, and Bandits Cheerleading Program. Volunteering with Lions Meadows of Hope in Perkins and Autism Oklahoma in Edmond.

Ashton says the best part of her business is being able to help dreams come true for others, creating businesses or helping the average family with their taxes. She works hard to keep her fees as low as possible while still being able to hold your hand through the whole tax process. She knows it is hard to trust just anyone with your finances and works hard to be that person for her clients. Ashton doesn’t shuffle her clients around; she handles everything, every step of the way. Creating a personal experience and supports you and your family.
Family and Friends are Ashtons true love in life, She gushed over how much support she receives from her family. Learning life lessons from friends such as Connie Staton and her never-ending compassion for others, inspiring Ashton to use her love for numbers to help others. Her parents and children have been her number one fans and not just for the ice cream at Pistols. Her Nanny and Pawpaw hold a special place, Nanny comes to visit twice a year to help keep Ashton on track. Unfortunately, her Pawpaw passed a few years ago, Ashton knows he is there cheering her on from the sidelines. Most moms are always struggling to juggle it all, while I am sure Ashton juggles too she is blessed with understanding Children who love to come to work with her. It is nothing to see someone doing homework in the office or at a table in Pistols. Having their support makes it easier for Ashton to do it all. She told me the wonderful thing about Oklahoma is Oklahomans are family orientated so if she has to close early for a football or event with her kids her clients understand she is not a corporation and will see her at the game.
When I asked what advice, she had for other women just starting out she gleefully said Go FOR IT!! It is worth it. Jen Welter said it best “if you want to be successful in this world, you have to follow your passion. Not a paycheck.” I try to live by this and enjoy the highs and the lows. Ashton’s love of her community and the Christmas season has inspirited her to host community events at Pistols like Free pictures with Santa December 12th, 9 am-1p, with a special appearance by the Grinch. Stop into Pistols for a coffee and more information on what other Christmas Fun Ashton has in store for the community.
