Georgia has a love of making people happy, she enjoys watching a customer lay eyes on a piece that triggers a memory or a feeling that takes them to a sentimental place. To Georgia, it is the magic of her business.

Georgia
Georgia a longtime Okie has worked many jobs over the years. She discovered her love of furniture and antiques while she was a clerk for an Auctioneer. Georgia opened Georgia’s Fine Furniture, first renting while working to buy her building. Georgia explained owning her own business has not always been easy. At one point she learned an important lesson about insurance and always being willing to start over. Georgia had to sell her building and auction off everything. Her resilience is an inspiration to Oklahoma women everywhere. Georgia and I talked about how the business has changed this year and she confessed that the “lookie-loo” traffic has slowed down a bit. She is doing her best to keep the store clean and safe so her regulars can keep coming to shop and find what they have been looking for while still maintaining a high level of customer service that cannot be found at any big box store. Georgia has patience and understands that everyone is staying safe and they will be back. This is where her positive go with the flow attitude pays off.
Georgia explained I have never been one to take orders, I have always known how I want to do things thing. I only hire great employees to help me keep things how I like it. My daughter helps me run my second store on Delaware Street. I like to carry something for everyone, I have everything from Housewares to horse tack, Camera, tools, old radios, sewing machines. Georgia giggled when she told me that the locals compare her store to a 5 & Dime. She said people bring her the most interesting things to look at and offer her to purchase. She must be very smart about whether it is the right fit for her store.
Women like Georgia are rare rose, their strength and determination are what keep small businesses in Oklahoma going strong.
With so many people staying home right now, people are redecorating left and right. Vintage and BoHo chic are all the rage right now. A quick trip to Georgia’s Fine Furniture and you could find the perfect piece to complete your space!
