11TH INTERNATIONAL LYRICAL AND INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC COMPETITION OF LES CORTS

T he 11th International Lyrical and Instrumental Music Competition of les Corts, in Barcelona, (CIM Les Corts) organised by Barcelona City Council - District of Les Corts, together with A Tempo Musical Studies Centre, and the Ass. Per l’Altre Cor Cremat, intends to: > stimulate and support young interpreters’ musical career > encourage musical interpretation, as well as the diffusion of classical music starting from the youngest generations > establish a new musical diffusion cultural frame in les Corts

The competition is open to all classical music interpreters of all nationalities who will be between 18 and 35 years old on 31st December 2015. The contest includes two categories: > Instrumental: Soloists, with or without piano, and chamber accompaniment, up to a maximum of five members (in which case, every individual member has to meet the conditions in section 2 of these rules). > Soloist: Lyric Soloists. (The competition organisers can’t provide piano accompaniment).

The contest consists of three phases:
> Selection Phases At A Tempo Musical Studies Centre Those registered will take part in an audition on 26th May (lyrics category) and 27th May (instrumental category), as long as the number of participants makes it possible. The repertoire interpreted will be chosen freely among the titles provided in the registration form, never exceeding 10 minutes. The objective is to choose 16 interpreters (8 from each category), who will move on to the concert phase. > Concert Phase At Centre Cívic Can Deu Every selected candidate will do a performance, no longer than 15 minutes, on 28th May (Lyrics category), and 29th May (instrumental category). The aim of this phase is to choose 8 interpreters (4 from each category), who will move on to the final phase.
> Final phase Axa Auditorium Finalists will have a 10-minute audition on 30th May 2015, according to the tribunal’s selection based on the pieces included in the registration form. The jury’s verdict and the awards ceremony will take place on the same day.

Each candidate or group will present a 45-minute program, which will have to be indicated in the registration form.
T he date and the order in which they will perform in the selection phase will be available for candidates since 11th May 2015 at bcn.cat/lescorts and also at atempo.net.

The finalists and/or winners will not be able to participate in the next competition in the same category. he jury will be able to interrupt the performances during T the selection phase if appropriate. The jury’s decisions will be final, and the candidates will not communicate with its members. The jury reserves the right to declare the award null and void, and to select a smaller number of finalists.

The organising committee reserves the right to modify this regulation, if it is convenient. Registering the competition means the acceptance of these rules. Any no foreseen question will be decided by common agreement reached by the organising committee.

Registration term until 27th April 2015 (included). Documentation required: > Registration form properly signed and filled in by the candidate or chamber group representative. > Photocopy of ID card, resident card, NIE or passport. > Artistic photograph in pdf format to concursocim@atempo.net (specifying the participant’s or the group’s name) > Registration rights receipt of payment, for the amount of 20 € per soloist or chamber group. The payment will be done by means of cash deposit or bank transfer to the account number IBAN ES13 2013 0283 0902 0117 2056 - BIC or SWIFT: CESCESBBXXX (VOCE). The name of the soloist, or the chamber group representative who does the payment must be specified. All these documents must be submitted or posted to Centre d’Estudis Musicals A Tempo, or emailed. SPECIAL AWARD Professional CD recording with the record company Solfa Recordings, given to one of the winners.
AUDIENCE AWARD Chosen by the audience along the final phase at Axa Auditorium; all the finalists will be eligible. The winners will be offered to take part in the following musical cycles: > ‘Classical at les Corts’ cycle, in Barcelona > ‘30 minutes of music’ cycle, Mas i Mas Foundation (instrumental category) > Concert organised by University Extension Classroom for elderly people Les Corts East, in Barcelona > Lyrical Cycle ‘The Voices of the Monastery’, in Barcelona (lyrical category) > Scholarship to the Barcelona Opera Studio 2016 will be given to an interpreter in the lyrical category. > Festival of Les Corts 2015 closing concert which will take place on the 2nd Sunday of October at Axa Auditorium. Prize amounts will be subject to the current retention tax.
