Hello, I’m Dita Ayu Alferina and this is my Portofolio.
By the introduction, I’m an ‘99 of architecture student and currently in my last year at Architecture, Brawijaya University. I’m seeking to learn and expand my references in the architectural and design fields. During my journey in college, I had the opportunities to be a freelance drafter and render. And I have tried a couple of times to join the architectural competition. These experiences allowed me to become a good player at teamwork as well as it made me good at working in deadline driven environments. I have a strong interest in model making, detailing schematics, graphics and rendering. I do have an interest towards open public spaces but I’m open to learning about anything. I consider myself as a fast learner and am enthusiastic to learn more about architecture.

The Women’s House Senegal, Africa The Women’s House initiative aims to find answers to the five major issues that are at the foundation of the gender inequality problem: education, health, economics, politics, and society. The main architectural implementation offered are the courtyard design as a container collective activities whose activities are divided by time, and shamba as a Senegal agriculture fortune, both of which play a role in addressing the issue of gender equality. From a series of activities that are widely played by women, the perception and bad view of women will be reduced in the mind of children and young people, thereby transforming the figure of women into a dream and honour that can help to alleviate today’s social issues. Overall, Women’s House seeks to reduce the five core issues that be the root of Senegal’s gender inequality problems, and if it succeeds, it will have a long-term impact.

The project is located in the ideal lot as proposed with a total building built 280 sqm: 132 sqm enclosed space (28 sqm management office, 2x6 sqm consultation room, 40 sqm indoor collective activities, 26 sqm dialogue space, and 26 sqm restroom), 55 sqm courtyard, 15 sqm infiltration well, and the remaining 78 sqm for transition (circulation and foyer). In site planning, the project provides design responses in the building orientation of south-facing adjusting the wind direction for the creation of cross-ventilation, also the addition of access to the consideration of the ease of accessibility both in the development process and the future activities to functional buildings around the site. The roof of the building has a design tilted in between two masses, this allows the existence of a rainwater reservoir system that is then processed in the infiltration well, the cycle of clean water can answer health problems due to dirty water and food security.

The courtyard (55 sqm) is enclosed by flexible fabric curtains that can be opened into one space or closed to create three spaces. It is considering the large courtyard can be used simultaneously or separately depending on the space’s needs. Flexibility space allows for time-based integrated activities to make space use more effective and efficient.

In the morning the entire curtain is shifted to remove visual restrictions so villagers can use it as a market particularly for selling shamba crops to improve the economy. Curtains can be left open or closed as needed during the day to provide free education to all women. Education is provided on a variety of topics, especially on health issues such as the impact of young marriage and free sex on the future of individuals and families. Other activities such as workshops, seminars, and labs can also be conducted publicly in the courtyard because of the open space design from all directions with a focus on the wall’s enclosure. When the educational activities are finished or the courtyard is not in use, the courtyard can be used to socialize or play freely.
The women house is designed to be built entirely with material that are found around the location to facilitate the delivery of materials, low-cost and only requires basic fabricating skill. Walls: using cement brick coated with clay to strengthen wall structure, the clay consists mostly from red earth, that can be found easily around Baghere, and the wall function as insulation from the heat and to store the it at noon and expel it at night. As for the center, using local fabric as a mean to separates spaces to provide flexibility. Roof: using corrugated sheets (200x120 cm profile) is an ideal material as it perfectly perform its function to protect from the sun and rain, and its cheap and lightweight compared to other roof material. Structure: using local trunk (10x10 cm profile) as the columns and using rosewood beams (5x8x300 cm profile) for the modular roofing structure. Floor: using concrete as the foundation of building.

Everything that originates from nature may be traced back to its source. Villagers grow from the wealth of agriculture that was granted in Senegal, it is believed that will be useful in answering the problems that occur in the present or future, one of them in overcoming the problems of gender equality. Through the implementation of shamba as a container secondary activities in Women’s House such as farming and education program of agriculture that suitable for woman’s abilities. They will learn how to turn food waste into compost. After the composting process is completed, it will be stored and used at the shamba, as it is a circular process. Villagers will learn how a healthy cycle works and how they play a role in each phase in the circular pathway design as a shared space.

In addition to contributing in the field of education, shamba is also proclaimed to change the pattern of passive to active behaviour so that women are more engaged and influential of health factors in lowering the mortality rate caused by obesity. The background of this project is because the coffee plantation as the potential of Jember has issues due to the accompany and its development, Jember’s coffee is still unknown and the Covid-19 makes the condition even worst. Therefore, there is a need for socio-ecological development (social & ecological development) which can bring local wisdom to the point of resilience related to socio-ecological (resilience in social-ecological).

Re-Identitiy Of Malioboro Malioboro, Yogyakarta Malioboro street is one of the famous shopping streets in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Everyday, Malioboro is always crowded with visitors, both local and foreign. Street vendors, angkringan (Javanese traditional cafe), fashion shops, handicraft and others; almost all kinds of Yogyakarta local attributes are present in it. Re-identity of Malioboro using a place,aking approach which placemaking mainly to make our community could reinagibe and reinvent Malioboro as the heart of every community especially Javanese people. This design would strenghthening the connection between the people and Malioboro (as a place) they share. In this case the design would use the standard place making to re-identify Malioboro so that it could be resilient to Covid-19 and against disaster in the future.

De jowo ecopark is a public space aimed at conserving djawatan forest which is now a tourist location but is poorly cared for by the manager. This is important because forests in Indonesia are in crisis due to many cases of forest fires. In addition, this project can make the local community who have a low economy participate in protecting the forest so that it can improve the culture and economy of the community.
