JENNIFER LOUDEN: THE INTERVIEW
WORK - THE SENSITIVE’S WAY
Workin Girl Issue Mai/June 2014
EDITOR‘S NOTE
Romy
I am late. Or more precise, this issue is late. It should have been released two days ago; that’s what my schedule says, that’s what I had publicly planned. This time my beautifully laid out plan was not executed the way it was intended. This time life made the plan. Unfortunately, we were not in alignment, life and I. And I did not like what it handed me one. little. bit! This ugly flu monster that has been feeding of my life force for a month now with no intention of leaving fast... I had a choice. Succumb to the flu, put myself in bed and just let it happen or stuff myself with anything I could think of to keep me going. At first I did a bit of both well knowing I was not really committed. Not to my health nor to the magazine. Because it’s no fun creating and working in this state! Then my body stepped took the lead and led me straight to bed for a long stay. I hung on to my belief that everything happens in divine right timing for dear life. I doubted, I questioned, I grumbled, I cried, I rebelled, I surrendered. And I remembered that, as a Sensitive Soul, I am not like the rest. My body and soul don’t do normal, they require their own unique rhythm. My promise to put myself first took on a whole new meaning. I realized that once again I was guilty of making my work my god instead of honoring my own Goddess first. The fear of losing customers and money had taken over. Taking care of my life force took a back seat. Well, lesson not just learned but deeply understood! Ironically while I am putting together this beautiful issue. The wisdom and beauty offered by 15 lovely Sensitives in these pages remind me that I have tools and ways to work well. The Sensitive’s Way. DIVA MYSTIC MAGAZINE 2

WORK SPACE DESERT Text & Images by Bo Mackison
DIVA MYSTIC MAGAZINE 16
The material of the artist lies not within himself nor in the fabrications of his imagination, but in the world around him . . . The artist’s world is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away. It is always on his doorstep. ~ Paul Strand
I
often go to the desert to work. When I connect with nature, I experience a boost in my mood; my imagination switches to on, and I am able to get into my work. Perhaps it is simply a change in scenery.
Some women I know find a quiet niche in their local library, head to a busy coffee shop to write with companions, set up a sewing table in the midst of their garden, or paint in a park. I go to the desert to work. Often I bring my work and settle in one of the covered shelters scattered throughout Saguaro National Park in southern Arizona, in the Desert Southwest. These remarkable buildings, built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), provide a shady place for me to set up a temporary desert office.
If you are not finding the time for creativity, you are not finding the time for one of your main reasons on earth...to fully allow the creative force of your divinity to connect and move through you. ~ Jill Badonsky, founder of Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching

I find a change of pace triggers the little child in me who says, "Yippee! I don't have to work in the office today!" Suddenly my resistance has decreased. I am ready to look at my scribbled, scratched-off to-do list (a very casual document) and see which of the choices pique my interest. I also give myself permission to begin by working in very small increments, especially if I am contemplating a project I find overwhelming, technical or difficult. "Just begin," I say to myself. "Just work for 10 minutes." Then, if I want to, I give myself permission to stop. However, ninety percent of the time, I find a starting place and within ten minutes I am productively working. I have broken through the "get started" barrier, broken through the procrastination, the overwhelm - and I am working! DIVA MYSTIC MAGAZINE 18

Usually, when the distractions of daily life deplete our energy, the first thing we eliminate is the thing we need the most: quiet, reflective time. Time to dream, time to contemplate what’s working and what’s not, so that we can make changes for the better. ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

If I need more time, more grounding before I work, perhaps I'll walk in the canyon, deeper into the wilderness, away from the few who also walk the desert. I sit on a rock outcropping, settle into the earth. If I am taking photographs for an assignment, I take time to contemplate my surroundings. Spring has come full color to the desert; the desert is awash in greens and yellows. The ocotillo's red blossoms sway in a slight breeze, high atop the ten foot branches. Birds chatter and swoop, ground squirrels chase each other. As I pay attention to my desert surroundings, ideas pop into my head, often half-answers to confounding questions wriggling around in my brain.
